Spring 96.0 released!

Post by abma »

Spring 96.0 is a bugfix release, to kill fix some really annoying bugs:

Noteable fixes:
  • units jittering
  • memory leaks
thanks to all of them who helped making this release possible!

Please test spring 96.0 as it will be set as default version on lobbyserver on Thursday, 9. Jan ~23:00 gmt+1 if no blocking bug is found.

The changelog contains more details

Happy new year!

Note: Please report bugs to our bug-tracker, thanks!

Edit: this time "enforcement" was slightly changed on the lobby server:

old springlobby versions (<0.180) and maybe other lobbies won't prompt for updating spring when connecting to the lobby server any more. The lobby server only tells on connect which is the default version of spring used on the server. The host can select which version it wants to use to host a game.

So this mainly is a multiengine version support enforcement, lobby clients not supporting multiple versions of spring, will have problems when joining games or hosting.

I know this secret. Nothing really interesting. It was fixed already on game side too anyway.

This issue isn't fixed yet:
A minor thing, but when spring has loaded a game, it puts a marker at (0,0), so if you press F3 at gamestart you will be brought there.

Still a lot better than what it used to do :P It would F3 through all player start positions, including enemies.

That is true. And Rome wasn't built in a day, so I guess it's logical to assume that bugs are fixed incrementally too :)

Merci ! :-)

You can play and do those tests on [ACE]Hosts that are right now on Spring V96.0 ; You can checkout each of them with the title that contains [Spring Engine 96.0] string.

Sounds great, thanks!
Is the bug that makes teamcolors appear in random colors (IIRC since 94) not fixed? Or just missing from the first post?

Maybe this?

- fix #4137 (units randomly switching team-color, old bug with new cause)

(the changelog has a lot of bugfixes, too many to include in an announce post)

looks like it still have some issues with correct exit.

Spring 95 crashes when exit for me (fedora 20 linux)
Spring 96 crashes too: http://pastebin.com/sitVrnhZ

only when I play vs player (not AI)

I know that I have no debug symbols so this infolog is not very useful. So I don't create bug report in mantis.

Botgames against E323ai in BA
Botgames against Rai in Techannihilation

runs fine so far on Radeon 8750 / Quadro FX 4800 / Nvidia Gforce 5XX

This seems like a good release, except one annoying new feature. When i hold shift down (while playing, does not happen as spec) the screen starts to flash. Totally random bug.
