Spring 0.78.1.1 is out

Post by Auswaschbar »

16 players DSD is back!!!1!

This and other highlights are:
  • lots of bugs fixed
  • installer cleaned up, it doesn't include any maps or mods now
  • speed improvements (now uses SSE for faster calculations)
  • in windows, settings are not stored in registry anymore
Keep in mind your settings will be resetted.

Installer, source and TAServer can be downloaded from the download page. Ubuntu packages should be already available, OpenSUSE RPM's will follow soon.

Thanks to all people who made this happen: baczek, lurker, jK, hoijui, zerver, Tobi, Kloot, KDR, AF and LordMatt.
Kudos to people who helped testing: TheFatController, MelTrax and dizekat.

No thanks to all those people who where too lazy to help testing. You are not allowed to complain in this thread. You are however invited to fill bugreports in mantis / "Help and Bugs"-subforum, but please check is someone else already reported it.

edit: don't complain about COB warnings when playing CA or BA its mod error.
edit 2: teh changelog
Have fun!

in all seriousness the auto update is still broken, errors out because the lobby is running but we are given no chance to close the lobby.

Slightly annoying it couldnt import the existing settings from the registry tho. But here's to a good new release!

Edit: Installer also seemed to delete my spring downloader.

That sounds like a TASClient bug.

Congrats on the release guys!

"in windows, settings are not stored in registry anymore"

Pure win.

Yay, down with the ebbil registry! Nice to see Spring incorporating the good features of the Windows OS (storing user-specific stuff in the user folder while storing the core files in PF) and ditching the bad ones (the infernal registry).

Engine:
- use %CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%/springsettings.cfg (e.g. \Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\) to store settings instead of registry

from the change log.

is it possible for me as a user to store my settings within the spring dir?

Yay!

@Smoth: just use SpringLobby! :-)

theory: BBcode was disabled because the sudden rush of users to thank the Spring devs would have otherwise overloaded the spring servers.

Hi,

First, thanks for the regular updates.

I am however unable to connect to any lobby server.

Do you have to update them as well or is it just a problem with TASClient ?

Thanks in advance.

The lobby server is up at the time of this writing. Do you get any particular error?

Oh, and make sure it is really connecting to taspringmaster.clan-sy.com port 8200, and not to some backup server.

Theoretically you can set the file on commandline and unitsync. Practically
you need a lobby to support it, like Springlobby (portable mode, so you can even put spring on USB stick).

so before I could do it, I have to run command line settings, and modify unit sync? Along with having to have a lobby that will support having my config stored in a different place?

so no portable spring eh?

Packages for openSUSE 11.0 and 11.1 for x86 and x86_64 architecture are available.

Repository links:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.1/
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.0/

Spring packages available:
spring //spring executable
spring-content //spring content (AIs, scripts, LuaUI,...)
spring-dedicated-server //dedicated server executable

Warning packages are not fully tested.
SpringLobby does not find libunitsync.so automatically because I moved it to /usr/lib/spring/
or /usr/lib64/spring.

Packages will probably change in the next few days...
If you have any problems please send me a pm.

Actually, I think he's saying the exact opposite - that it's just about command line settings on Spring.exe and on unitsync (no idea how unitsync could have a command-line, but whatever), and that Springlobby supports that now in the form of some "portable" option it has.
