Bugfix release, 0.77b4, Now with less bugs

Post by Auswaschbar »

Because 0.77b3 still had some bugs left, 0.77b4 is now ready for general consumption. You can find them at the download page.

Things changed:
Crashes:
  • fixed a crash (on exit) in colormap.cpp
  • fixed another division /0
  • fix crashes on "/take"
  • fix crash when loading units into transporters
User Interface:
  • fix tabulator toggling overview mode
  • reduce the maxBreaking-is-zero message spam
  • fix far textures showing up as gray rectangles
  • the error message "no writable directories found" now has a windows version too
  • Fix explosion spheres appearing at wrong position
  • fix attackorder for radar dots
Engine:
  • fix attacking gaia units
  • fix the collision detection for dgun (and other noExplode) projectiles
  • Made gunships (and possibly other units too) point their noses at the midPos of their target instead of the pos, the old behaviour could cause trouble with units where midPos and pos differ much.
  • added crashDrag tag (float, default 0.005) to fighter/bomber planes, when the plane is crashing it uses this drag instead of the automatically calculated drag it uses when flying. The calculated drag is no longer used when crashing, even if no crashDrag tag is present in the unit fbi
  • fix (AirMoveType) aircraft refueling
  • fix gameend detected not propperly
  • gameslowdown triggers at higher CPU usage and is limited to half the userspeed

Here are the dedicated server binaries built by BuildServ, hope they work (cmake build system is still experimental in BuildServ):

Lobby update doesn't work for me, worked for b3 though.

Are there no more incremental installers? ;P

"unable to create file D:\program files\spring\D:program files\spring_0.77b4.exe"

it dls 0.39 kb.

Seriously, test something before releasing, and let springdownloader be autoclosed when going to update, so the update actually works

It's not incremental because I have to keep downloading the same installer over and over again. What if I just want a simple 0.77b3-b4 patch that's only 3MB (or whatever the difference is in size)?

Trademark, I ask because I've been getting more friends to get this game, but seeing as how down here in S. America most people don't have over 512k I rather not lose my friend's interest by telling them to download the whole thing over and over. (seeing as how there were about 3 releases in the past week.5 or so)

We use to have them before, I'm just asking what happened to them. Or why couldn't the lobby just download a patch for Spring? Then I don't even have to bother sending links around.

the installer, if you don't select anything but the core files (ie. update mode), weighs only 14 megs and doesn't download anything extra. is that really _that_ bad?

*sigh*

I guess not, I'm just saying it'd be nice to have a simpler method of updating. Like, maybe the Installer can have a real "update" mode, instead of the usual install method where it will connect online and fetch the latest "main" version of Spring? Or like I mentioned previously, have the lobby do it or anything. There are so many things that could be done to make things even FASTER, I don't understand why so much resistance...

SpringSettings and SmallDivide are always downloaded. So that's 4 MB there which is always downloaded extra in addition to the installer.

I realize this is not actually very helpful, but I can't hold myself:
@Stealth870: All I needed to do to install the latest version was click: "Apply Changes" and then enter my password. That's for Ubuntu/Linux though :). (It's called package management and needs getting used to at first I can tell you).

Edit: P.S. Of course it's great to see new versions coming out! Thanks to all that put work and effort into it.
