BA946 Endgame Tournament

Post by Sabutai »

Hello community and everyone who wants to know how to make money quickly on the internet,

in order to say goodbye to BA9.46 and welcome the new era I am organising a 1v1 tournament on the 5th and 6th of April 2019.
More details and which maps are to be played will be announced. [PRO]Angel has kindly offered to host the whole thing. If you have any suggestions I am willing to hear them.
Prizemoney offered by me:
  • 1st place - 50€
  • 2nd place - 30€
  • 3rd place - 20€
There will be a secret prize too.

Sponsors and casters are welcome.

 Tell all players old and new to come and join. Comment below to register. Apply now!

https://challonge.com/946endgame

Thanks everybody for their input! Thanks Fabrice, Grumpy, Ares, Angel, Duck and everyone I forgot.

Matches will be best of 3. This means you need 2 wins to advance. Money matches will be best of 5 needing 3 wins for a victory. After each game you will have to upload the replay to challonge.

On challonge it will show you the first map of each round. After that the loser chooses from the map pool:

Map pool
  • seths_s_ravine_3.1
  • Trojan_Hills_v02

As soon as I randomize and finalize the brackets you may start. The first round however must be finished by 17 o'clock CET Saturday the 6th of April 2019.

Non attendance means disqualification just as cheating. Don't use any exploits. Don't use any user installed widgets. I will be the judge.
1v1 rules means that you cannot dgun an enemy commander but you can laser him to death.
All units should be allowed like the vulcan
I will send the money through western union
If you win money you will have to send me a picture of the receipt, not neccessarily yourself
Spectalk is forbidden and shall be forbidden
Keep the chat clean, no swearing and no insulting
No comdropping or dgunning the enemy base before 3 minutes.

autojoin #tourney so we may communicate better

GL HF

Looks good sabutai, please post rules and map pool.

My suggestion is best of 5 for final, maybe best of 3 for matches before that?

Check previous tournaments for examples, be sure hosts have the maps you choose. Also check hosts have 1v1 settings and you have servers reserved for the day and a springlobby channel to get everyone to join like #endgame on springlobby.

No. It may be chaotic and not well thought through but it's not a joke. Sign up. I'm very glad Ares will play. He is one of the best players. Certainly better than Mando, Adolf and Cartouche...

Thanks for the input Ares

Great news!
I think i won't be able to play myself, but I can help with map pool and rules. I have some experience playing in BA tourneys. I could join casters desk.

Please post suggestions. Depending on how many players there are the final should be at least a best of 3 if not even best of 5. Best would be to have so many players that we could spread the games to 2 days.

Consider using "double elimination" format, then everyone gets to play at least 2 people. Eg if someone loses vs Cart at start, they would still get a game in losers bracket vs another losers bracket player.

i think have any prize money matches bo5 and all other matches bo3

I set it to double elimination but may change it depending on the amount of players.

Suggested map pool:

small bo3 maps
altair_crossing
geyser_plains
icyrunv2
red_comet_v1.3

small bo3 maps not on cloudhost

icy_shell_v01
into_battle_v3
desertCliffsv1
avalache-v2
incultav2
frozenplanetv3
ashap_plateau_III
ravaged_v2

large bo5
comet_catcher_redux
titanDuel
Deadlock-v1
bluebend-v01

large bo5 maps not on cloudhost

seths_s_ravine_3.1

Notify Ace host and Darkenergy host owners of the event and ask they be reserved and set to 1v1 config for the tournament. Need multiple 1v1 setup hosts running in parallel

I've just signed up, but I'm not yet 100% sure I'll have time to participate. I'll try to make sure I know by Friday.

Just to make a few things clear: The tourney is being organised on the fly. Rules may change anytime. I'll make it as transparent as possible.

Depending on the number of players I may stop registration on friday. This means that if you agree with your opponent you may already be able to play on friday. However the bulk of games will be played on saturday. Why? Right now there are 32 line ups. If we do best of 3 it means at least 62 matches. I don't know yet how many servers we will have. However this is my suggestion, we may discuss it.

Rules:
  • 1v1 rules means that you cannot dgun an enemy commander but you can laser him to death.
  • All units should be allowed like the vulcan
  • Your username should match the name registered in challonge
  • The seeds will be randomized before the start, so the brackets will change
  • I will send the money through western union
  • If you win money you will have to send me a picture of the receipt, not neccessarily yourself
  • Any further suggestions?
People are asking me to cast. However I don't know if I will be able manage. Is anyone up to this?

Further suggestions is to make a best of video. Would anybody help with this?

Out of what you listed I would filter to the following, ones I rejected and reason is below, suggest you split medium maps into bo5 pool, such as comet, titanduel, archers. Also maybe add bluebend to bo5 pool because its rly good gameplay

https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-m ... nstnm04-v3
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-m ... enplanetv3
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-maps/barren
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-m ... ah-pass-v2
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-maps/marsbar-v1
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-maps/titanduel-0
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-m ... rsvalleyv3
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-m ... tcherredux
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-maps/icyrunv2
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-maps/redcomet
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-maps/eye-horus
https://springfiles.com/spring/spring-maps/smalldivide

not aquatic divide because too bright and reclaim based
not frozen guantlet because its a water map
not adamantine_mountainv1 because too asymetric
not battle_for_planetxvii-v01 because too asymetric
not brazillian battlefield because mex snap is broken here
not zion - kbot only map
not cooper - kbot only map, reclaim based
not black mescalin v3 - too porky single chokepoint map, game could be long
not moonq10x - too asymetric

also consider adding:

icy_shell_v01
into_battle_v3
desertCliffsv1
avalache-v2
incultav2
ravaged_v2

please keep community standard rules with no buzz, it would be very sad to see a tournament match end with a buzz, and currently community is used to having buzz disabled so they may not even notice unit restriction changing

Bonjour,

Actually [ACE]Metallic est in 1v1 mode, and it's playable only like this, no way to change to team or FFA mode.
PS : Should the autohost have a maplist like above ?

If you need other hosts with this conf, just ask.
Have fun

[EDIT] Maplist done, and by default + only this one available (!nextmap could be nice for this tournament).
However, I didn't find avalanche2, only V3 available.
[EDIT2] A little bit ouf of tobic, but @Sabutai and others, FYI >> BA9.46@103.0 = Phoenix Annihilation 1.01@104.0.

This challange site is not allow to get my nickname in SpringRTS for example. My nickname is "Great" and it's already registered by someone.

  • I will send the money through western union
As far as i know they want really huge fee for transactions.
Sabutai wrote: 03 Apr 2019, 12:19 Further suggestions is to make a best of video. Would anybody help with this?
I suppose that if spads server will record demo and put it on the site https://replays.springrts.com it wll be better than any video record. Demo is allow to zoom all that you want and watch in any place of map.

The list of the map haven't metal maps. It's a pity.

What about giving some ideas instead of... ?

1. If your name contents Rick or Great in its parts on Challonge, we will guess, it's really not a problem,
2. Maybe using Paypal with the "Send money to a friend" option,
3. Regards to videos, I suppose it's a best of or something around, a file result from a video editor work,
4. Metal maps permits a particular way of playing that doesn't always fit to every player.
Adding metal maps with regular maps won't be fair.
It's not forbidden in this case to start a metal tournament Rick, with only metal maps.

Register using a name that makes you identifiable.

A good suggestion was to forbid the widget that scrambles player view for replays.

Metal maps are too difficult for noobs. And we all want to see games with underdogs winning.

Western Union it is.

From the replays we can create videos as promotion material. The same goes for the casting. Therefore the livestreams must be recorded for further use.

Why? 0_o It's not widget it's spads configuration. Spads server do this record and upload it.

As you wish but here is no noobs in this tournament.

If you will have demo record you can do even from only one demo several video materials. You will able to see one battle from any points.
