LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
I'm very disapointed with many games i ve played on autohost.
We never know the quality of their connect and their cpu.
The problem is that when you are searching a game with many players you join them and games are laggy.
There are too many autohost!!!!
I don t know why peolpe don t create game.
I d like rules....

Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
spring would be strictly better with less autohosts, there are always way too many
Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
I don't see how it is different from normal hosting playersThamien wrote:I'm very disapointed with many games i ve played on autohost.

The CPU speed is showed in Lobby, and I don't see why normal players would have better connections than AutoHosts...
If you had spoken about command spams, or how hard it is to kick someone, or having to vote each time you want to change a setting, then I would have understood...
Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
we should have a lot of dedicated servers
Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
The problem is that you don t know where is physicaly the server.
Play on an australian server and you will understand what i mean.

the flag is there :)Thamien wrote:The problem is that you don t know where is physicaly the server.

Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
australians shouldn't be allowed to host because some people cannot interpret flags!
Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
you're just saying this because you're from australia

Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
I have not had many problems with the connection and cpu of the autohosts. Anyway, if one of the players has a too slow cpu, everyone will have the effects from it.
And you can host your own game/go to others hosting their own game if the autohosts aren't doing good.

Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
a lobby-integrated rating system for autohosts would be cool. every player who finished a game on an autohost should have the possiblity to give 1-5 stars for the experience he made...would be easy to identify the bad ones after a few days
Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
Note that latest (.77 spring) autohosts DONT NEED ANY CPU!
They are only forwarding packets, they dont run actual simulation.
CPU stays idle if you run 100 of them.
Only thing that matters is network capacity and most of them have pretty good one hosted at dedicated servers.
Also note that game will slow down if there is a laggy player (feature restored in 77), this might give you bad impression. The more people game has the more likely is this to occur.

Wow, that sounds useful. One of those ideas that are obvious in hindsight?Licho wrote:Note that latest (.77 spring) autohosts DONT NEED ANY CPU!
Re: LIMIT AND PERFORM AUTOHOST
Not really. The dedicated server even worked with 76, but the springs would whine constantly about not getting sync responses. It was pretty much an issue of getting it tested, tested, and more tested.
