NEW: Unit Overload v2.01!!

Post by Buggi »

Since my other thread has turned into attention requests from what I am actually doing, here's a new thread for a new and HIGHLY updated version of my add-on mod to AA 2.11.

Unit Overload version 2.01.
  • Fixed minor error with Immobilizer
  • Substantially weakened Large Marge (Both reload and damage)
  • Major reduction in Area of Effect of "Remover"
  • Fixed the two bugged Flakers
  • Fixed missing texture
  • Tactical Missiles are now targetable
  • Lowered AoA on TacMissiles
  • Addition of the Arm Advanced Hovercraft Platform
  • Addition of the Core Advanced Hovercraft Platform
  • Addition of a Arm Hovercraft Shield Generator (L2)
  • Addition of a Core Hovercraft Shield Generator (L2)
  • Addition of the Dreadnaught Seige Hovercraft (Arm)
  • Addition of the Adonis Seige Hovercraft (Core)
  • Addition of the "Catapult" Mortar Cannon (Arm)
  • Addition of the Cougar, a Medium assult Kbot (Core)
  • Addition of the Immoblizer, a Very Heavy Shielded assault Kbot (Arm)
  • Addition of the Antarion, a VERY Heavy Tank (Core)
  • Arm & Core Nanotowers can now build themselves.
  • Modified all shields to NOT block friendly fire (exception of L1 shield).
Notes:
Now that there are advanced Hovercraft platforms it allows the addition of many more units. Hovercraft are oddly not used in many games, though they have many benefits. I hope to steer more people to greater diversity. Remember to RENAME the ZIP extention to SDZ when or after you download (to mods folder).

I have some notes on STRATEGY using this mod. There is a REASON why stuff is spread out. To get the benefits of ALL advanced units you must build the L1 AND L2 versions of ALL factories.
  • Adv Kbot lab -> Adv Const Kbot -> Experimental Lab
  • Adv Veh plant -> Adv Const Veh -> Alien Energy Reactor
  • Adv Air plant -> Builder Wasp -> Almost twice as fast as a FARK
  • Adv Hover plant -> Mobile Shield Generators -> OWN the battle
As you can see what directions you take in the first 10 minutes of any game can have dramatic results. Naturally these sorts of strategies don't really take effect on maps like Speedmetal, you can build everything there.

Some of the units added initally, still in there, the shot above is NEW units.

You know how long I've wanted more Hovercraft for? Now Caydr can play with that idea - you know, if you keep this up, you'll use up a sizeable amount of my as yet unreleased unit proposal list.

That's good, because I plan on adding about 6 more or so. Just takes awhile to ensure textures don't conflict and stuff :/

Good to hear feedback though!

Not entirelly. While it does use AA as a dependant, I over-ride a few things from AA to fit into this mod. I require AA because there's already a CRAP LOAD of work that's done (units, weapons, textures, build order) that I really didn't want to tackle right away. I'm lazy. But it does require the user to download AA 2.11 right now. So that's a good thing, right? :D

I actually played a game against KAI and it did very well. Even built the super moho maker and a large number of other items I added.

I was impressed!

Oh and the Large Marge is powerful, as is the Core Firestorm. I dropped the accuracy and the range of Marge though, it was a little excessive. Fun to watch!

Anyone have any feedback?

You know, you like a few of the new units you can create battles and disable the ones you don't like.
