Having problems updating an old mod

Hello all, I started playing Spring recently after a long time away (what has it been, two years?). Anywho, I tried firing up my old mod on the latest version of Spring and have been greeted by crash dump after crash dump. It is crashing while loaded unit definitions, however, I can't seem to find any specific cause of the error. Any help is appreciated :)

Maybe
Those warnings have existed in there for a long time, however, I tried pulling them out to see if it made any difference...but it didn't =\

Quite unpleasant. Crash messages should be improved in current master btw (not sure if those commits are in latest 82 branch).

Did you get the same problem with non-MT spring?

Yeah, same crash. I tried several other mods and several maps. The crash is definitely localized to my mod with any map. I played around with limiting the units that are being loaded by removing them from the folder. I found that one of the units causing problems is the armflash. I tried converting it to lua (everything is currently still fbi), but that didn't help any =\

I downloaded the mod, I'll take a look sometime tomorrow evening (after 7pm GMT) if no one else has got to it by then.

Your movedefs.lua is incorrectly formatted. All units that use a movedef are broken (This is why structures and aircraft work in current git master but nothing else does).

Your movedefs.lua:

@Flozi: Really? I based it off of the tutorial in the wiki. I also just checked CA's and it appears to be the same as well.

@abma: I just have put one of the versions I was messing with removing units out there by mistake. I'll repackage it.

Well when i changed the movedef for armzeus to that format all of a sudden armzeus worked again.

You missed out lines 138 to 145 of the CA example which does the conversion for you. So the quickest way to fix would be to add them in. :wink: (make sure to return the new table and not the old one if you do this!)

Ah, right you are. I applied that change to the movedefs, and the mod started loaded reliably :D. However, it looks like it refuses to load the sidedata.tdf, but the lua version works fine. I guess I'll finally have to move all the build data out of there XD. Thanks for your help :)

You also have download tdfs as well as the CANBUILD section of your sidedata.tdf. It's possible you have some conflicts, I'm not sure which will take precedence.

If you want a single lua file with all build options in it (as opposed to CA style buildoptions-as-part-of-the-lua-unitdef), you can use S44's modified download_builds.lua here http://spring1944.svn.sourceforge.net/v ... /gamedata/ and it's corresponding builddefs.lua file

Related: I am trying to play an older mod, but it doesn't show up on the games list, even after a map/ mod refresh. I added a commander spawn gadget, but I don't think it makes a difference as it still won't show up. What is the main cause of older games not showing up on the list?

Well its due to fact that modinfo.lua doesn't exist
some changes in a lua file is needed cant remeber wich something with peril changes and is responsible for com spawn
