You should have used the search function. It will be there when it's done and not earlier...

So no date but we might get to see a beta version this year if the devs won't run out of work time...

I think there's no chance of it being released in the next month and very little chance of a release this year.

That's just an informed guess though.

I tentatively project release around April or May 2010, but consider I made this prediction over a year ago.

It uh, actually has a more than large enough unitset and plays fine (I mean how hard is it to make a bug-free working spring mod?) they just do closed development and want to keep working on it.

They could release it tomorrow if they wanted.

Hi Johnny, thanks for the encouragement and interest.

We don't like to set dates because they have a nasty habit of flying by and pissing everyone off. However, as a few people in here (who have helped to test it) can testify, we do have a lot done - over 80% I'd say. Possibly inching closer to 90%. Things have moved a little slowly for the last few months due to various RL issues for Gnomre and myself, but work is still on-going by everyone. I'm hoping to get a lot done this uni break, so perhaps we can even beat Neddie's prediction - but again, we're unlikely to actually set a release date until we've actually got it done and are just kicking up some PR noise.

Have a look around on our forums, you'll find lots more information on the game, who knows, you may be able to help out somehow (see our request for voice actors)

Compared to making a game from scratch, making a Spring mod is utterly trivial. Making a good one is still difficult, but once you have the art assets, plugging it all together is not very hard. IW clearly has the art assets.

Vaporware is a term used for software thats never going to be finished or released. IW could be released tomorrow, really, there is nothing stopping it. It would be about as 'finished' as any of the other big mods for spring that are out there right now, they just used a closed development model.

possibly, but I find all the playtesting, balancing, arguing, tweaking, rethinking, and so on far more stressful and occasionally even more time consuming then the actual art production part ;)
