Games WITHOUT OTA requisite?

Post by andrewmin »

I just got Spring, and it looks great. Except that I never bought OTA, so I can't (legally) play any OTA-based mods. So does anyone know of a list of games that DON'T require OTA? I know of Kernel Panic, and that's about it.

EE, S44, SWS, Gundam, Simbase...that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

S44 = Spring 1944 = World War 2 Mod
Gundam = Anime Mecha Mod
SWS = Star Wars Spring

And I'll add World Domination to this list as well. Modern warfare mod. Although come to think of it, it might actually use bits and pieces from the OTA content.

@andrew, about Evolution, it is being officially released this friday. Most likely there will be an "Unofficial release" tommorrow in installer form.

I'll make a real release at some point. I'm really sick atm.

There are buckets of OTA-content-free mods out there. The problem is, they arent really played.

And that, my friends, is a big problem. If you have some friends you can get together and play these things with, then by all means, give it a shot. Id suggest EE as probably the most complete, traditional-style RTS.

But if not, you'll have a really hard time fining games that arent XTA/BA/CA.

Unfortunatly Maestro used liberal amounts of OTA content and I have some of it too, the generic textures for example.

It's my future goal to remove all OTA content from WD but this will take a while to complete.

I need for example new cursors and replacement for generic textures.

Cursors are easy, there's Erom's set that everybody uses.

The FBI will not come after you for playing BA without owning OTA.

Of course, if I were wrong, I'd never know - I own the originals :)
