Map Versioning

Post by qray » 21 Oct 2013, 17:52

Hi,

I wanted to ask what is necessary to do a version update of a map such that all the systems (map servers, lobbies...) can handle it correctly?
So far I got on my list:
  • Change version number in mapinfo.lua
  • Optional(?) and obvious : give the packed sd7 file a different name so people can have both versions in parallel if wanted
  • Change name of smd file (and include one, even if using mapinfo.lua)
  • Do the smt and smf files have to be renamed, too?
Do I miss something here?

A related question: is there on springfiles the possibility to store more than one version in one map entry? There is the "version history" box on the right. But it seems to list only the latest update and I don't see a way to add more than one file to an entry...
Or is the only way to keep an old version to make a new entry?

I would change SMF as well, only smt is the one that does not need to be changed.
