If you use L3DT...

Post by Atorpy »

Hi Everyone,

Any Spring mappers that use L3DT may be interested to know that there is a new stable release of L3DT Professional available (v2.5b), which includes the SMF/SMT importer/exporter, as well as three of Forboding Angel's excellent climates (Greenworld, Desertworld and Mars). Screenshots, as well as more info about the release, are available here. There is also a tutorial on using the L3DT/Spring plugins to make maps over here.

This is a free update for all users of L3DT Professional. If you would like to register for a free trial, please see these instructions.

Special thanks go to Tobi for helping me with the SMF and SMT formats, and to Forboding Angel for his very generous climate contribution.

Cheerio,
Aaron.

Hi Everyone,

For those interested, the beta release of L3DT Pro v2.5c is now available for download, and includes a complete SD7 exporter, with a graphical user interface for SMD settings (see here), and support for custom map features, vegetation, trees, geovents, metal patch placement, etc.

Here are a couple of quick-n-dirty screenshots from Spring showing the various features:

The tutorial on using L3DT's Spring plugins is on-line here.

Feedback is most welcome!

Best regards,
Aaron.

You should not do that, you should pay for it - trust me, Aaron's prices are reasonable - I'm quite poor for an American and I elected to get the program even though I don't build my maps entirely through it. It's functional, often updated, and quite fun.

I will not tolerate piracy of it through the Spring Community.

Might change your tune a little bit if all the large filehosts decide that hosting your maps are not worthwhile.

Stop being a dick.

I'm probably one of the biggest anti software selling proponents in this community. That being said, aaron isn't rolling in money over L3DT, and he's made a tonne of changes to the software basically just FOR spring. If you're a spring mapper who acctually can get some good use out of the software suite, you really owe it to the creator to acctually credit him the small sum he's asking for.

If you seriously need to use it for more than 90 days, then it's pretty poor that you wouldn't buy it. It's also stupid to actually post about it on the forum the creator is reading. Great job.

i love this program so far its amazing it makes map making so simple the tutorials helped alot

i managed to make a test map in under 5 mins (well alot more time cos of compiling making texture cos my cpu is slow (single core ftl) )

the skybox dusnt seem to get included wen u make the sd7 but dusnt matter has easy fix of dumping skybox in the sd7 folder and it works

overall awesome program here r some screens off my 5 minute tutorial map ingame (low grafix settings)

Image

how do i get rid of the white on the edges :S (is it a skybox thing ??)

Image

CA glamor shot :]
