The time spent on meeting, the less time spent on getting work done. I don't see what would be accomplished by devs wasting time on a second meeting.

Why don't you have someone from the moddev team be the respresentative in the engine meetings who's away of the current needs of the moddevs and can let them know of the needs of the engine guys?

Just adds that additional level of communication to backup the forums/emails/chat etc that you've already got!
