Spring RTS Engine

Hi!
im super new to this.
where are all the games at ? because the "official" games list is pretty small.
the only thing i could find is springfiles but it only shows 60 games even though there are supposed to be more
please help

TechA, Spring1944, Metal Factions, and a few others are played on the official server.

BA until recently was mostly played on their own server but now is also active on the official server.

Zero-K and BAR are played almost exclusively on their respective servers and use separate infrastructure for accounts, ratings, etc.

Were you looking for a specific game? Recommended way on the official server is to join the corresponding game room and your lobby client will prompt you to download the required packages to play it : game, engine and a map.

Springfiles is a work in progress, the old one got broken then it went through a server migration and the games list isn't populated properly. Only few games show up and not even the latest versions of those (example: latest MF shown is v1.34 but the actual latest version is v1.76).

At the moment Springfiles is more useful to check/download the latest map submissions used by many of the games, although some of the ZK maps are also not available there but can be downloaded through the ZK web site.

Many old Spring games are sadly not playable anymore, because the engine changed and the games were not updated. And even if you found those old engines, you couldn't use them because the infrastructure changed. And porting old games to newer engine is hard even for experienced Spring game dev, when the gap is large.

Over the year, some game author withdrew because drama, because real life, because fear. The website that hosted the game files have closed down, been replaced by a new generation, that itself closed again.

Such is the cycle of life!
