Hello, i have a problem with spring that is making it very hard to play:
It takes spring a very very long time to start.
I'm sitting here, 6 minutes after clicking the 'rejoin' button in Zklobby, and spring still hasn't started up proper.
Spring is sitting quite comfortably in the task manager, eating a tiny 12,000 kb and not doing an afwul lot to be honest.
Can anyone help me with this problem? Are there glaringly obvious solutions i haven't tried yet?
(ticked over onto the 8th minute and now it's finally started up proper. Loadtimes look okay.)
Thanks in advance for your help and also for taking the time to read all this.
Really long start-up times.

Re: Really long start-up times.
i didn't see any unusal in infolog.txt.
do you see anything on the screen, after you clicked rejoin?
what does "and spring still hasn't started up proper. " exactly mean?

Re: Really long start-up times.
It means that, in the taskbar, there is no spring.
The spring window isn't visible.
I didn't see anything i didn't see before clicking rejoin.
It just takes a very, very long time for the spring window to appear.

Re: Really long start-up times.
It happens because of unitsync. Do you have .sdd folder in your mods/games?

Re: Really long start-up times.
I do not have any .sdd folders in my spring folder.
i do have two s44 SVN's, though, if that is what you mean.

Re: Really long start-up times.
do you have some antivirus software installed?
does disabling it speed it up? (to a normal time, maybe 5 seconds...)

Re: Really long start-up times.
I have subjected spring and macafee to an empirical inquiry, and found that the real-time scanning function of macafee is the culprit. disabling it brings the starting time back to regular and re-enabling it makes it very very long again.
Thank you for your help.
