Strange bug on Intel HD graphics and air planes

Post by jamerlan »

Hi to all!

I got a notebook with optimus technology. It has nvidia 540m video card and intel hd graphics video card.

As I know, these video cards can switch during play.

So I am running Spring... everything is OK but until AIR was built. If someone built some airplanes - my FPS slowed from 40-50 to 3-9. And strange looking black tails after planes appears. Take a look at screenshot: http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/8881/screen00000.png

I turned off everything at spring settings: advshading, shadows, reflections, dynsun etc., and bug is still there.

My infolog is attached.

I got my PC with i72600k and nvidia 560ti, so I will not play on this f#cking notebook anymore. But I want to report this problem and maybe such reports can help to improve springrts. This is my work notebook, so I can test more if needed and provide additional info.

i would guess that the black tails is caused by failing shaders.
maybe the slowdown is a result of that too.. i dont even know if it is possible to disable shaders in spring.. i would guess yes.. or there should be at least a widget that can be disabled.

I found a way to run spring on nvidia videocard only on this notebook and it runs on 40 FPS and without this bug. So this bug is 100% intel video card related. It was so hard to find a way to switch video card manually. I hate optimus technology :-)

... it might help others (and possibly even yourself in the future) if you could give a short description here, about how you did it.

I reported slowdown on this map long ago. I guess this is NOT airplane related. Try another map on Intel video to make sure.

I tried other maps too. My bug is 100% airplane related. Slowdowns begins when black tail of airplanes appears.

is the lups widget disabled? (don't know if lua shaders disables this indirectly...)

Disabling the lups widget should fix it.
