Spring RTS Engine

Okay I recently upgraded my system and decided to reload Spring after some time. Downloaded Spring Installer, mods and maps. Actually remebered my old account info. Set it all up. Tried to play and here is what happens:
From Spring Lobby whenever I get launched to a game, either in an online game hosted by someone else, single player game with bots or I host a game, nothing happens. The lobby will indicate that I am in game but I do not get anything onscreen, all I see is the lobby. When I go to task manager I have an active spring running but no window.
Also when I uncheck the option "Use old launch method" in preferences in Spring Lobby and try to join a game, I get a flash of a small black window but it flashes too quickly to read what is in it.
Included the Info.txt file.
Appreciate any help.

Thats a well known bug old about 2 years - dont try to run it in windowed mode, it rarely works on windows.

Use fullscreen.

I may have been unclear. I have tried both windowed and unwindowed. Both fail to launch.

Try upgrading audio driver

Updated the audio driver and also the video driver to the latest versions. Also tried to disable dual monitor and tried to launch. Still getting a small black window that pops up then disappears.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit if that changes anything.

BTW when I switch the launch method in the preferences (unchecked "Use old launch method") I do see a copy of Cpring still running in the Task Manager. If I check this block, then nothing happens onscreen (other than the processing indication on the mouse cursor) but there is then an instance of Spring running in Task Manager. Nothing on screen though.

what if you start spring.exe manually?

Try deleting its configs in documents and settings.

I got it.

I had the lobby opening in combatibility mode (windows XP SP2) but Spring was opening in the native OS. Apparently this was the conflict.

Bullshit, it worked for me until 0.82.3

Now i cant even run fullscreen

It worked for you in windowed mode on windows 7/vista 64bit without EVER freezing on startup??

Cant tell if it was windows crashing sometimes but the biggest problems is that
springlobby dont work anymore, so i cant play anymore, testspring starts but commanders are not visible.

You can use springdownloader lobby or tasclient lobby.
Use latest verison of BA or other mods like CA

windowed mode always works for me on win7/64bit from SL

or simply toggle: edit -> preferences -> spring tab -> "use old launch method" , I have no idea why, but shell execute vs system() fails on a tiny % of players without any apparent reason and any common factor whatosoever.

Same here. I've been using windowed mode for a long time on same OS.

Hmm im getting freezes on startup since 0.79. Since then i changed OS and GFX card but still same.
Perhaps its my sound card? (SB x-fi)

that is possible. you can start spring without sound.
in spring settings: NoSound=1

never had any problems with my x-fi

Does is freeze for you from time to time, with none loading message displaying (just the loadingscreen w/o message)?
I got such a bug atm in my development build and thought it would be a race-condition after making it multithreaded, so it would be nice to know what to blame for it.

It shows window which does not process windows messages (so its white or black on windows).

Its more likely to happen if i have movie running and spring starts.
It happens randomly - not always but often.
