i forget one line in the start debug info but im pretty it's a problem while creating the 3D map preview form ... i don't know why it doesn't show the err msg but im pretty sure it's a missing dll one :

so either GLU32.dll or OPENGL32.DLL is missing ...

you can download dependency walker and check what required dlls are missing, those two dlls are usually insalled with your graphic card drivers

you can download dependency walker and check what required dlls are missing, those two dlls are usually insalled with your graphic card drivers
Thanks for the hint - what a useful program!

Anyway - it's reporting that DWMAPI.DLL and EFSADU.DLL are missing - going searching for them now to see what they are...

I hope DWMAPI.dll isn't actually a real problem...

Meh. Probably neither of these DLLs is the problem.

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=93950

But that leaves me with no other idea what may be wrong with TASClient.

Anyone got a link to a 0.49 download? (Last one that worked for me)

what graphic card do you have ? driver version ? did you check if the dll were available ? i'll add something to avoir that problem anyway but it's weird

for the finalizing problem, as you can read : OutOfRessource error means no free mem available, finalizing just loads the last selected map

I'm still having trouble with tasclient crashing on trying to load unitsync. Is the unitsync issue a problem that the spring devs need to fix, or a lobby dev issue or both?

Regardless, it's really frustrating.

Given the fact it works with both qtlobby and springlobby (as reported in http://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=1508), its most likely a TASclient issue.

yeah but it doesn't with springie and the mission editor too when it doesn't with tasclient so no it's not a tasclient issue since it freezes only with the new unitsync version so maybe it's just a vista issue ...

THings that come to my mind:
  • are you using the right calling convention?
  • are you aware of the fact unitsync might change the current working dir?

Main gfx card:
nVidia GeForce 8800GT (running dual 1920x1200 + 1600x1200 displays)
Driver date: 18 Feb 2009
Driver version: 6.14.11.8208

Secondary gfx card: (running single 1600x1200 display)
Radeon X1900
Driver date: 18 Dec 2007
Driver Version: 8.450.0.0

I have the opengl and other dlls you mentioned, just not those 2 I mentioned in my earlier post - but from everything i've read I shouldn't need them?

the unitsync log shows it's not even scanning the directory so the init freeze, nothing to do with calling convention and working directory, plus tasclient changes the working dir before calling the init

So.... any other ideas? I've kinda gotten used to SpringLobby but I still don't like it very much. Will there be another TASClient release soonish?

can't you put an exception handler around the 3d init code and make it fall back to not using 3d if it fails?
