Someone is paranoid.

When you reinstalled, did you delete anything first? Such as the lobby folder?

Dude, your latency could easily be half a second or more. Satellite internet isn't just laggy, you're bouncing signals back and forth off a satellite in space. I'd be surprised if VOIP worked properly in that kind of lag.

Edit: talked to my buddy who played WOW on satellite, he reports 3/4ths to 1 second of latency, and that his actions would sometimes not get sent out for 30 to 45 seconds sometimes, even when stuff would be coming in fine. The difference between Spring and all the other games you may be thinking of is that Spring needs a response every frame to run properly, and it tries for 24 frames per second. That kind of latency will almost certainly wreak havoc with it.

NOTHING IN THIS SENTENCE IS TRUE

Satellite is fine unless you want to play an fps mod.

You don't need your orders to get to the other people in game? I was pretty sure everyone had to be "on the same page" for sync to work.

Spring runs smoothly even if there is a multi-second delay from end to end, and it does it at 30 fps.

sync errors are completely different from enforcing game speed, and game speed is mostly cpu-bound, not lag-bound.

Things like micro and accurate dgunning vs. microed units will be very difficult, though.

Ive played Spring with satellite for bout 2 months now, and I have not had any serious problems. In fact, I have beaten people who are three ranks above me before. But that's not the point. Have they, or have they not begun to kick players because there internet wasn't fast enough? I'm really pissed now. I haven't played Spring in two weeks. And now crashes are becoming more prevalent. Once, I tried to reload map list with old lobby, and it crashed. Both old lobby and new lobby are crashing from the same causes.

No lurker, I did not delete anything.

EDIT:error initializing unitsync.dll
Single Player skin file'lobby\SPThemes\default.ssk' not found
lobby\var\tips.txt not found
Error initializing unit syncer!

All of these errors show up, even though the ones that have to do with missing files are obviously there. "Error initializing unit syncer!" Shows up every time I try to host or join, which I think is the same problem for both new and old lobby. Please tell me you know what this means.

es Vabor and Noruas has the same bugs, im guessing you use windows vista x64?

If so then deleting spring and reinstalling it completely will have no effect, congratulations you are hosed vabor. you have to wait till they release a new working springlobby for vista, or give up.

When will they have a new working lobby? And WHY THE HELL DID THEY SCREW IT UP!?! This is so retarded. Your telling me that the lobby is now going backwards in development? I mean really, I wasn't even gone for a whole week and they do something stupid like this.

I'm guessing I'm gonna have to make my own lobby now. And I know nothing of Java language. This sucks. I BLAME ALL OF YOU! Including me for not being here to stop you.

Blame them?

Blame yourself or God

I was suggesting that you do delete that, because it's probably where the error is.

Both lobbies work fine when installed properly, so delete everything in the spring folder except mods and maps if you have to, before reinstalling.

I have tried that lurker, i still get the same errors when deleting everything or leaving just maps and downloads.
EDIT:error initializing unitsync.dll

lobby\var\tips.txt not found
Error initializing unit syncer!

Im guessing to be honest somehow TASCLINET.EXE somehow lost privileges to access files in requested directories, because it also cannot read or write log files for maps and mods registered in the lobby. I tried messing with windows vista admin properties but to no avail tasclinet can not access any external files and the springlobby originally for Linux insta crashes and has many other bad bugs involved for windows vista at least. If you have any crazy suggestions besides reinstalling a different OS and reinstalling spring 50,000 times it would be helpful to know.

So you delete then reinstall and nothing? Did you wipe out tasclient's virtual store, if any? Does the current tasclient still require admin? I'm on vista 64 on a couple week old tasclient.

Hey I've been having trouble with the new lobby too. After lots of uninstalls and re-installs, I've got to this. Lobby opens, I connect, I can go to Multiplayer tab, host a battle, I choose BA 681, a map, add a bot (KAIK-0.13), and start a battle, and then I get a window labeled "Incomplete/Missing conte..." no more room (Incomplete/Missing content) but the only thing in the window is a triangle with an exclamation mark in it and a button that says okay. What am I missing?

There is one solution. Anyone got a link to an outdated lobby? Me and Noruas could really use it. Lurker, you have an outdated lobby. Please put the files in to a zip folder and post it at the forum as a fix to the Vista x64 problem, until we can come up with a better solution. I am willing to learn Java to help out.

I've got a 100% repeatable crash on hosting games in Spring Lobby. I'm sure this probably works fine on Linux and XP, but on Vista (32bit) this might as well be labeled an ALPHA since it clearly isn't production quality. Maybe the issue is that I'm not elevating it in UAC, but I was under the impression that Spring Lobby wasn't going to need full administrator privileges and was going to store its files in the User tree.

I'm submitting bug tickets for all the issues I'm encountering, but I'd love for a Spring Lobby developer to spend a week or two on Vista with Spring Lobby. I think it would really be enlightening for them.

I do own a vista 32 home premium copy ...
EDIT: before you ask, I run my account with user privileges, not as admin, so the UAC is not enabled at all
