Cant play with more than 10 players or it crashes

otherwise it crashes, not sure about that 10 player limit, but my map didnt work with more than 10 players, and with less than 10 player it worked.

edit: hmm im not sure is the last crash about 10 players, too many crashes today... gets mixed up.

it definitely crashes at more than 10. stalag proofed it. some error because of missing content shows on the hosts screen if it tries to host 12 or 14 or 16 players

the last infolog is a lua crash i have no idea how to trace yet, but it's there since 77b1... i think it has something to do with the files you have in your spring dirs, not sure though. clean install seems to fix it for me.

anyone who can reproduce a long stacktrace even before the game loads please report how.

It also crashes if you play with 3 real players and the rest filled up with 9 bots

tested in BA 6.41 and 6.5, errors are the same

this was clean install... if you mean downloading game and installing to new folder?

yeah. too bad. it comes and goes, it happened to me even before the first release but couldn't reproduce it. if you happen to find a way to do this reliably, post it.

no, it does not come and go. it definitely worked fine before b5. i can reproduce it in every game with more than 10 players now

it didn't happen _to you_, i've had this crashes before 0.77b1 even, even without using a lobby, just spring.exe. I'll try adding some bots.

edit: you were talking about the topic and not about that stacktrace, i take that back. this indeed doesn't work. attached script with 10 TestGlobalAIs.

i think this bug is severe, spring is more or less unplayable till its fixed. any news on that? what can we do to help fixing it?

autohosts were fixed; dunno if that helps clients. fixed in next version anyhow.

i know you hate me because I'm so unpro to play large teamplays...
but back on topic: it really seems to depend on the startpos-markers. if a map has 10 startpositions you can play with max. 10 players (see dsd) if there are 16 startpos like on dsd revX you can play with 16 players

As far as I tell Caldera is correct - the problem is when the number of players exceed the number of startpoints.

I've noticed people are solving this by making versions of maps with 16 startpoints.

Whilst this is a good idea, how about we agree that such maps are named in a sensible way and not just called "DSD_fix". I'm guessing this could be effective since the number of people who know enough to make the change is smallish, and most will read the forums.

So I suggest we call them "mapname_16startpos" and it won't be confusing when maps actually need to be fixed.

Also, how about someone puts a message this in the #main topic? (until b6 out).

no, i tried and it crashed, which why i made this post.

10 is max, no matter how many positions you have in your map.

amount of spectators doesnt affect anything, only players.

trademark please check that again. i just ran a test throug 3 different maps
dsdry (10 startpositions) => crashes when more than 10 players try to play
tabula v2 (12 starpos) => crashes when more than 12 players try to play
dsdry revx (16 startpos) => does not crash

Of course everyone can wait a few days... but most people know nothing about how long it'll be before it's fixed.

(Although I see on mantis that it's solved for next release)
