Camera Panning Lag

Post by Mastablasta »

I just heard about and downloaded spring today and everything seems to work properly, except my fps drops from well over a 100 to about 2 whenever I move the camera around or zoom out. I have tried lowering all the settings and it doesn't help. The game works fine until i move the camera, I can move units and construct thing without a any fps drop.

Specs:
Windows Xp
AMD Athlon Xp 2800 2.13ghz
1gig ram
Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT

I installed it in Linux on the same machine and it works amazing with all the settings on max and dynamic water. Are there any complete Linux lobby programs to play online with? I'm using the incomplete springer to launch single player games that's it.

I know you already said your drivers are up to date, but outdated drivers sure sound like it would be the problem.

I had the same problem.

It mostly occurs if you scroll with middle mouse button and it is caused by too less RAM, so Spring has to access the VRAM (on hdd).

For me, a RAM-upgrade (512MB->1,5GB) solved it ;)

btw, switching to linux is a solution too, cause better RAM handling

Hey!!!!
Finally! My problem exactly!!!
AMD Athlon 3500+, 2Gb of RAM, Nvidia Geforce 6600

Crazy FPS drops when I move the camera, impossible to play.
All settings are on minimum.

(Re-installed drivers from NVIDIA site today, didn't help)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Follow-up: uninstalling NVIDIA drivers, rebooting and installing them back in solved the problem :)
