Keep lua in Spring engine

Post by Ares »

Hello, please don't delete lua from Spring Engine. Widgets are in every Spring mod and provide a level of customisation and flexibility that we all love.

Yeah, throw more bullshit in. The more you throw the sooner you'll join your recently perma banned friend.

Obviously I want an answer on this important subject.

Do you promise not to break Lua and widgets for mods with future engine updates?

@Ares

How it has always worked and how it will probably continue to work for as long as anyone writes engine code:
- The chance of lua being removed is 0.
- The chance of the lua api continually changing in small ways and requiring games to adapt their code is 1.
- The bit in between - major changes that break backwards compat in serious ways - is uncertain and involves discussions, with the people who write/maintain the engine code having the final say on what goes in.

The tone of this thread is uncomfortably close to harassment, and it will be locked because of that. Ask what else you want to know politely, in a new thread.
