Computer Science books changed my perspective

Post by builderror »

Previously I read books about specific programming languages and recently I got some computer science / data science books from the library - this has been very helpful for my understanding. I wish I had read these academic books sooner. Some of them are very long and I skip a lot, but one of the books was very easy to read in a short time period.

I'd never rule out doing maths or computer science courses but it seems like a bad idea in the near future. I prefer vocational work.

Alot of those books answer the "Why" questions, instead of the how questions.
And with why questions answered, you can deduce a lot of the how questions when presented with new / slightly changed software.

Alot of those limtations are not choices by the programmers, but just limitations inherent to the nature of physics/mathematics.

cause why have water from above, instead of love :D

I forget the book but it was a text book with a turtle on it. in the first paragraph they talked about cs being about "abstraction" detailed what abstraction was and I dunno why, but it stuck with me and changed my view of things to their core.
