This thing dead or what
Like 20 people in the lobby? Depressing. What happened?
Re: This thing dead or what
ZK split and oldscool RTS games aren't as popular anymore
Re: This thing dead or what
A number of things happened, but BA at least seems to be growing again. We have a steady influx of new players at the moment that we seem to be retaining, and a plan of attack for how to increase that influx (plus retention rate! :D) in the future. So, if we pray that nothing bad happens, Spring might eventually reach -- or even surpass -- its former glory.

Re: This thing dead or what
I think the most recent thread proclaiming the death of Spring was a few years ago now, so we are probably overdue.
Afaik we aren't recording public lobby stats, and are spread across two lobbies plus infinitely many Discords; the dearth of information should provide an ideal environment to return to traditional, regular announcements of the apocalypse.

Do we have stats on the apocalypse announcements?Silentwings wrote:Afaik we aren't recording public lobby stats

Not many, but the first post announcing the death of Spring was on 27 Mar 2005, 23:47. It's preserved for posterity at viewtopic.php?p=6823#p6823
Re: This thing dead or what
There were several before the great forum wipe of 2004 when Fnordia wiped the site by accident. There were even vaporware accusations!Silentwings wrote:Not many, but the first post announcing the death of Spring was on 27 Mar 2005, 23:47. It's preserved for posterity at viewtopic.php?p=6823#p6823

Last time I saw, the spring site uses a single database for everything, forums, springfiles, etc.
Literally everything. So if that is still the case, then this project is one button click away from total history loss at all times.

Someone should invent a way to duplicate data to another place so when the original data is lost, it could be restored from the safe place.

If only someone had thought of that.

Someone should summon samwon

You accidentally made Jeffies and Weasels overpowered, resulting in the death of AA?Caydr wrote:Like 20 people in the lobby? Depressing. What happened?
Re: This thing dead or what
Also other games are still being developed, even if they have no apparent player base, like metal factions
