What is going on? why is it so dead here? Seriously questioning developing anything if the community is this dead.

Jump on the discord bandwagon. There's a lot of posting you don't see otherwise. It's nice being able to interact with the communities from my phone.

Also it's probably exam season... or something. Most gaming communities I observe are quieter these months.

Can confirm, most communication happens in the discord servers at this point. Licho even built bridges for #sy and #moddev and #zkdev.

If you want my option, on why the lack of activity, is that there is literately nothing interesting things happening on these forums.

I've been updating metal factions slowly over time. I plan another patch this week.

There are still several issues that need improvement before promoting the game more agressively.

but...

quiet != dead

Fwiw, Discord is more about community chat. VoIP is optional and usually pretty situational.

Never used it for VoIP. I think you have to join special voice channels to use it.

ah so this isn't like skype etc. If our discord channel goes down all conversations are lost. Why are we moving to that from a forum where I can search it for as long as the spring site is here?

There are plans, to mirror discord conversations to the forum?

No they don't. Also, discord chat is searchable.

If someone deleted the server, then yes those conversations would be lost, but the chances of that happening are nil to nil.

It has all the features of skype. To chat in voip channels, you just join one of the rooms in a server.

https://discord.gg/wThucpT < Spring server, just use the webapp to look so you can see how it works. You don't use it to be joined to only one server, usually. Generally you would join a whole bunch of servers at the same time and flip between the conversations in each one at your leisure.

For example, I have my Team in Rocket League's server, I'm joined to Silver's RL server, Scrub Cup RL server, Spring, BA, Evo, Metal Factions (and a few other smaller ones, all at the same time), servers are private by nature. You can only join one if you have an invite link. "Public" servers generally just have a never expiring link that anyone can use. It's pretty much makes it so that you don't need any other tool for conversation, which is why it's so popular.

It's like if you took slack, mumble, skype and whatsapp and forced them to have a lovechild named Discord.

I moved away from the spring engine and the boards quite a while ago... been busy with nursing exams, my full time job and some private life but I checked in every couple months.

Nowadays when on the computer (which isn't that often) I'm toying with procedural world building in Unity and make interesting things with the Substance tools.

How are you guys?

Still active. My 1.75 years old daughter + wife + job are eating up most of my time. There is some time left to maintain and improve the Cursed now and then, though. The rate of strokes is significantly lower though.

Besides that I am waiting to see BAR released somewhen... Hopefully... Maybe...
