Isnt it strange? Maybe im not such "hacker" or "pirate" in my heart or mind, but for me it is strange that someone gives to other people the some of the best features why Spring games are better RTSs then commercial ones.
Froggy tale
It’s embarrassing but we have to ask! Why did he do that? Does he like Spring at all? And what Google thinks about such frog?

Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
He figured out towards the beginning of this thread that PA's devs would not put it in. Its kind of like taunting them.

Major video update, showing the engine with terrain, units, camera, and some initial UI work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugz7I8Z1bkI

Look who is laughing now.Azhukar wrote:$900,000 for a niche RTS. Good luck.
Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
Maybe it's too much Spring influence, but I kept noticing all the pathfinding issues they have xD
Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
Yea, I notice it to. Especially watching the video they posted when they demonstrated how it worked.gajop wrote:Maybe it's too much Spring influence, but I kept noticing all the pathfinding issues they have xD
Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
every RTS ever written that isn't strictly tile-based has pathfinding issues (yes, even Starcraft II if you watch a few casts), welcome to cold hard reality
also try to imagine what it's like for me

Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
I am imaging how it would play if you put 1000 bombs (or moon drops) at one place and detonate all at once.
The crater would go through the planet's core :D
Has PA terraform?

Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
most certainly not beyond a limit.
i guess there is a float, and if you rock the planetary boot to hard, it gives away to a lot of glowing moons in a big smoke and mirrors explosion

Good stuff. Pre-ordered :)
Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
Every RTS ever. It is part of why I seldom play RTS anymore, after all the time with Spring, I get lost in the mechanics instead of the gameplay.gajop wrote:Maybe it's too much Spring influence, but I kept noticing all the pathfinding issues they have xD

Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
They talked about pathfinding stuff previously if anyone is interested: http://youtu.be/5Qyl7h7D1Q8?t=24m28s
They have terrain deformation, not the same way spring does though. I get the impression that it will mostly be for huge events, like a meteor ripping out a chunk of the planet, and not the myriad of little craters like you see in zero-k. This game looks like what supreme commander should have been!
Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
I hate the goofy round world maps they use. It just looks terrible to me.
Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
It is kinda odd to have a "planet" smaller than your average golf course but I'm not totally against the concept (at least for the novelty). I think its main weakness is that you basically lose nearly 1/3 of your map real estate for the corners, horizon and the parts hidden by cliffs and buildings near the edges. I'd be very surprised if they don't offer a flat map view as well and it ends up being the default mode for expert players.
You do have to admire it as a PR stunt though. It worked on me, I have a beta access pre-order.

I have always hated pr hype stuff.
Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
Me too, but for Kickstarter it's all you have.

That is what I thought about the map at first too. Now I think you might get used to it.. We'll see.
