My new Keyboard

My old keyboard is dying an awful death, so yesterday, I was talking with koshi about KBs because I like about 30 minutes away from microcenter or frys, and I don't really one to go to one of the office stores because you get your pants pulled down over the price.

Anyway, so when looking online I found this gem:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6823204028

It is a white keyboard, backlit led, with on/off switch. It's a compact kb though so it will take a little getting used to, but I can dig it. From what I understand, the feel of the keys is like ceramic as opposed to plastic, and the keys feel very sturdy. Also, it supports 11 keypresses at once with no ghosting. All for 27 bucks.

I don't even have mine yet, but I can highly recommend this kb already. I'll post back in a day or so when I have it in my grubby paws.

both seem to lack the vertical function key pad. A must for all computational machines!

I dont never want a keyboard with keypad again. and if I need a keypad I'll buy an separate keypad.

It makes your mouse not a pain to use becasue its now more close to you center.

Only problem is they are really hard to find and didn't found any in hardware stores.

I even bought the slim keypadless apple keyboard but I prefer this laptop keyboard

I own the Police OEM version of the last keyboard, which is made by TG3.

Hehehehe.
I've posted my keyboard 3 or 4 different places, and every time, I've said "The only backlit mechanical keyboard AFAIK." Nobody mentioned any others, So, this time, I figured it was safe to drop the AFAIK.

Those guys look sweet. I especially like the green backlighting on the last one.

The last one is unfortunately no longer in production in that color, but its bigger brother on the top comes in blue, teal, red, and green. In order, the keyboards are the Deck Legend, iOne XArmor U9BL, and Deck 82.

Mechanical keyboards that use Cherry switches actually have a single LED per every key.

i dont think i could live without keypad (isnt the real name numpad?)

also many programs use those buttons, including Blender...

if youre only a hardcore FPS player, then maybe you dont need it...

also its super handy to press the numpad enter with my right thumb without moving my hand at all.

Keyboards cant get worse than this. Looks quite cool though.

All those keyboards are crap, their physical key
layouts are vestiges of the clunky old typewriters
of decades and centuries past. Symmetric splayed
or orthogonal layouts make more sense for human
hands.

P.S. The QWERTY layout is crap too ;-)

lol... i rather not learn new layout just because it could be "better", it has taken me 10 years to master QWERTY...

not to mention nobody else would use your epic layouts, so you will be fucked when you use public computers... or even just your friends computers.

I never mentionned any "epic" layouts, I just noted that
QWERTY is crap (designing a keyboard layout is a game of
trade-offs, there is no ideal that works best for everyone).

As for the "public computers" argument, I've never found it
to be that much of an issue. If you just need to do a little
typing, hunt-and-peck on QWERTY is sufficient. If you're
going to spend a significant amount of time typing, then
you can often switch the machine to a layout that you are
more comfortable with. I've got shared linux, windows, and
macosx machines lying around the house; and all of them
allow me to easily switch keyboard layouts.

Yuck, -1 due to layout.

Firstly,

^+1. Also, cannot live without Del, Home, End, PgUp, PgDn in their standard positions. -1 to these weird keyboards that are sometimes laying them in 2x3 instead of 3x2 layout.

As someone who uses the keyboard and does a lot of typing - including programming, documents, and command line use - I cannot stand any keyboard that isn't the standard layout of number pad, arrow keys and the 3x2 gang above the arrows. Anything straying from this layout sets me back immensely. I have a netbook with fairly full sized keys but I lose the number pad (only available with functionkey combo - near useless) and the navigation/del keys are a pain to use.

Long live the full 101!

wouldnt it be easier if you DIDNT NEED TO switch anything... i mean seriously... i already type so fast that sometimes i get a lot of letters switching places for that reason. who cares if you can type 10 words faster in a minute than someone who uses QWERTY ?

also, i would be fucking pissed off if my friend or whoever came here to change my keyboard layouts (note: ive already disabled such shortkeys for a very good reason, so if you gonna add those back, ill spank you in the ass...) AND of course they will forget it on after they stop using the computer. And i would probably use the computer at the same time as he does... also, how you gonna play any game with non-QEWRTY... all games are set to ASDW etc keys... have fun configuring every little game you play just because you wanna' be different...

the world record typist was able to do 150 wpm on a QWERTY, while able to do over 200 on a dvorak (it was based on an hours typing or something)

but in all seriousness, bitches dont know
