GUI is fully-modable, we used the OTA one as basic.manolo_ wrote:it looks cool, but ur gui is pretty ugly (sorry)

i tried installing it (ubuntu 9.10), but gave up after cmake kept whining about not finding a library that i have.

There are recent packages for Ubuntu (both i386 and amd64, built for Karmic ) in our repository:

What are map size limitations?
Re: Original TA3D here. Screenshots inside and help requested :)
Same as OTA (same as TNT format + same as COB limitations if you use COB scripts).

Where is the unoriginal TA3D?
Re: Original TA3D here. Screenshots inside and help requested :)

Re: Original TA3D here. Screenshots inside and help requested :)
Can you be more explicit ? What happens, does it display an error message or something ?
Re: Original TA3D here. Screenshots inside and help requested :)
got it to work, shame i don't have the OTA disks
Re: Original TA3D here. Screenshots inside and help requested :)
You can install demo files and some other third party resources from the stable repository:
deb http://downloads.ta3d.org/binaries/linux/apt/ stable main
If you have backup images from your disks you can also install resources files from it using the ota_resources_installer.sh script.
PS: I've just noticed there was a conflict in menu entries, sorry about that. It's less convenient than a menu entry but running "ta3d" as a command works.

I'm overflowing with confidence that I'm just stupid, but when I look at those screenshots I don't see what's different compared to OTA.
Maybe I'm just remembering OTA fondly since I haven't played it in so long? I don't know... I just don't see anything jumping out at me as being different.
Or is that the whole point, that you've written a new engine which plays exactly like the old one? In which case, why would we be interested when Spring's been largely capable of doing that since 2006 or so?
Sorry if that sounds harsh, obviously you're hardcore awesome if you can program a game engine to perfectly emulate another one, regardless of its age.

Re: Original TA3D here. Screenshots inside and help requested :)
those zip files contain totala2.hpi and totala3.hpi. AFAIK i need totala1.hpi for the game to work, and the resource installer won't work form a zip filebartvbl wrote:http://d-gun.com/switeck.htm#installWartender wrote:got it to work, shame i don't have the OTA disks

i tried copying totala2 and 3 to the resources folder, but nothing happens when i run ta3d
Re: Original TA3D here. Screenshots inside and help requested :)
Springs still not properly capable of that, see Springs horrible air unit behaviour for exampleCaydr wrote:Or is that the whole point, that you've written a new engine which plays exactly like the old one? lol the ota_resources_installer script copied the entire contents of my pendrive to the ta3d resources folder instead of looking at the CD XD
