AF making a fuss

Post by AF »

It would appear that someone is failing to observe the basic psychological rule of telling someone when they have been moderated or made a mistake.

You are lucky I bothered to scroll upwards and re-read, and even then that someone quoted it.

In future, please tell someone when you edit their post so that your editing actually does something and has an impact, rather than ninja editing and then wondering why they make the same mistake again.

Thank you once again for todays episode of the Uber obvious common sense lesson.

I reported that post as spam, works best. Also reporting smoth's trolling posts as "other" or "offtopic" does jack shit.

It's not personal, just that moderation gives slack to certain users because of whatever reasons.

Oh, Spring, we came for Open Source TA- we stayed for the drama, that makes every shakespear theather actor get balepale. And Shakespear stole my content and destructored my links, taking all of my quotes out of context. I demand him banned from live and stage for time beeing.

If I was a moderator, I would have certainly banned me a couple times.

As far as I can tell, AF made a post with an image that didn't work, and a mod edited it out. So with this assumption:

Where is the image? (this is the only question I actually care about)

Does the host actually block deeplinking, or do they only block embedding?

Why is there a need to tell someone about a technical error in their post, in other words, why should it be obligated to tell someone they 'made a mistake'?

Why is anyone going to mind if you make the same mistake again? Has it happened before? It's not a bad behavior pattern or anything.

Basically, while it would have been helpful to tell you your image was broken, that's something anyone can do, not just a moderator. And the mod just changed it from one form of broken to another. Don't lump technical edits with rule-enforcing moderation.

I am not objecting to moderator rule enforcement, I am objecting to my posts being edited and me not being told, regardless of the why it was done.

It doesn't take much to press the pm button, type "broken image link", and press send. Heck is there not a plugin that would auto-pm on moderation power usage?

do not ruin my show- gtfo of my stage, jiizus, some beginners really are here for the OS-Game, not for the theater. ;)

The Game is a byproduct of the drama, like popcorn for cinema or earthgas from oil-drilling.

Now back to the stage, and the chorus goes:
"And in the brought the offender at once, to bitchslap him for the post he undones!"

I agree with AF's original post, but think that this point could be made in a much less ostentatious manner.

At least it'd be obvious who's editing our posts
