Re: Attention Trekkies!
Firefly wasn't that good, jesus christ, nerd spunk everywhere.
Re: Attention Trekkies!
best sci-fi in years IMHO. starwars doesn't even come close - lucas would have to make 9 movies about han solo, or maybe make a series out of KOTOR to even think about competing.

I am sorry, I can only see that dude as pirate steve
Re: Attention Trekkies!
that firefly show is good?!!?
i got the boxed set as a gift at christmas, thought "oh god it's going to be like that stargate show" and promptly plonked it on the shelf; never removed the packaging.
if you promise me its good, i'll watch it
my problem with both star trek and starwars... once you've read some really clutch hard sci-fi, it's difficult to get your head around the dumbing down that occurs to make a story presentable in movie or tv format. i guess i just like having descriptions of how things work, rather than just having them at face value (like in star trek, they have so much nice gear, but IIRC they never really give you a proper explaination of how it works beyond "oh the dilithium crystals") that been said, it's just a small point, i'm a fan of both universes... and i doubt i'd enjoy watching a 20 hour "true to the book" movie of something like ringworld or the diamond age. just here to split hairs i guess lol

Re: Attention Trekkies!
firefly is absolutely, positively great - if you're into something that isn't space-opera-we-humans-pwn-alien-asses sci-fi.

Its basically a group of people from varying backgrounds performing various petty crimes in order to make money, its like minor Sci-fi with a major in a Western era.KaiserJ wrote:that firefly show is good?!!?

Two great truths have emerged from this discussion:
1. Firefly is great.
2. GSD sucks balls.

Wow I'm really glad you posted that. I was a fan of the original Star Wrecks some time ago but I didn't know they made anything this big.Teutooni wrote:Star Wreck ftw.

My sci fi preference from top to bottom
Battlestar Galactica
Firefly
Red Dwarf
Stargate SG1 (when richard dean anderson still was in it)
Star Trek
Star Wars (never been real crazy for it but still good)
Farscape (till it turned weird on later seasons)
Andromeda, seen the first season and it sucks.
