Someone still has the 3dobuilder installer?

Post by [Krogoth86] »

Does someone still have the latest 3dobuilder installer? Just found out that XP seems to miss some kind of libraries when using a zipped version of its folder. As File Universe is down I couldn't find a mirror for it - everywhere everyone just links you to File Universe...

Thanks in advance...

@smoth:
You also just have a zipped up folder of an installed 3dobuilder - it misses this comctl32.ocx or what its name was for Windows XP...

@zwzsg:
Thanks - not the latest version afaik but still the installer should give me the files I need... :-)

The 2.1 version doesn't work (for me (by doesn't work I mean it has some annoying texture bug or something)), and doesn't contain an installer.

Well 2.1 works here - it just has a tendency to crash if you browse through different texture categories but you can fix that by running it in Windows 98 compatibility mode. I also don't have any real texture problems - at first start you just need to activate that OpenGL texture corruption stuff. Well that's not entirely true - the Arm Seadragon and Core Blackhydra flagships somehow jsut are completely white when you open their files. Those are the two only (from numerous) 3dos I have problems with and when you resave those two the texture info still remains so it seems to be just some kind of rendering problem and doesn't screw up your models. Didn't test how that's with 2.0 though...

@ralphie:
Nope - did that but it didn't have the necessary files - using the 3dobuilder installer worked...

2.1 crashes whenever you browse through core textures

that isn't part of 3do builder that is the vb runtime crap. Not my issue.

Well as said - when you run it in Windows 98 compatibility mode it (at least for me) doesn't crash anymore then...

Why so huffy? It's good to see someone still hosts some of that old stuff. The problem with the "it's just VB runtime crap" is that the runtime didn't give me the needed files. Probably some outdated stuff that 3dobuilder wants...

because I don't want to get stuck for redistributing microsoft's property when they have the download on their page when you search for the comblahblah.dll
