What are you doing with your money?

What are you doing with your money?
It's almost mesmerizing to watch trillions of dollars of wealth just evaporate as the Dow drops below 10,000 this morning. My own investments are probably down more than 20% YTD. So what are you doing with your money these days?
1. Paying off the credit card
Because paying off debt always reaps a guaranteed return!
2. Buying more stocks!
Get 'em while they're cheap! What goes down must go back up, right? Right?
3. Hoarding gold
It's safe because it's shiny. And I ran out of space in my mattress.
4. Government bonds
Because 4% is better than nothing. And it's not like the government is going to go broke... they can just pass a bill to bail themselves out.
I gotta admit... #2 is awfully tempting. But I'm really not much of a risk-taker. I'll probably just wait until a measure of stability returns to the market.

Look at it this way, you can brag that you bought a thousand shares of something. One of my co-workers bought a thousand shares of Lehman stock at 30 cents a share. He made 62 dollars.

I bought a tv! they are slightly cheaper now? I don't know, it doesn't really have anything to do with the crisis.
Re: What are you doing with your money?
I'm just depositing my money into a high interest savings account.
Re: What are you doing with your money?
I just invest it in cake. Mmmm, cake.
Re: What are you doing with your money?
If years of watching disaster and zombie flicks have taught me anything it's that before a crisis you should invest in:
Antibiotics
Gasoline
Ammunition
Liquor and Cigarettes
Bottled Water
Iron Rations
Bomb Shelters
Pimpable Babes
Axes (for fighting zombies)

Good stuff. Popped off a couple hundred .22 rounds today. That was rather entertaining.

Get with the times - the '80s are over. Shelter shouln't be nuke-proof, just very well insulated because you won't be able to afford to heat it.Sleksa wrote:Im with spliff, there's no better investment than buying a nuclear shelter filled with rations and bottled water / alcohol / guns 'n ammo
Also, learn to farm.

What if suddently someone finds out something bad about gold, such as "gold causes cancer"? :)
All my money is stored in a red plastic pig whose head I cracked to be able to take it in and out, I only have R$10,00 right now tough :) (at the moment it is worth like 5 dollars)
My father isnt doing anything desperate with his money like buying gold, but our president said that our country isnt going to suffer from the crisis (I hope he is right) and my father has his money into a governamental bank so it wont go bankrupt.
For those who are gonna buy gold dont forget that you also have to hide it :) making sure as little people as possible know you have it is also a good idea.
