Communism is not a crazy possibility in this case tough, as economy breakdowns are what makes people want to be communists, history tells :) Off course in the last global economy crisis there was a huge socialist country that wasnt affected and inspired everone into communism, we dont have that now.

SpliFF wrote:I think Bush's reply sums up his whole presidency. To paraphrase:

"We told the public to give us all their money, to bail out our rich mates, who squandered their profits on risky outcomes. We don't want to cut their bonuses though, because that would be unfair. The public called us up and told us where to stick it."

"Obviously the problem isn't the plan, it's the public. So we'll just have to keep having the same vote until we get what we want. Maybe I'll just rustle up some emergency powers and take the money."

As to what will happen... probably very little. Foreign markets will buy up bargains on the stock exchange and life will just... go on.
I don't consider myself a right winger... far from it for the most part... but in this case bush's plan is really the only that has any chance of short term success. If the public demands the market leaders take the fall in America, the big money will just go elsewhere, meaning America loses the economic power it represented. Capitalism is like tag, if one country puts heat on something making the money makers profit, they just run away; there is absolutely no loyalty in dollars. Socialistic economic models are attractive in times like this, but no country can really go socialist alone, they need a strong backing of socialistic supporters.

America needs to choose weather they are willing to pay to keep their top spot. If not, they lose it, simple as that. Industry and corporate are not willing to be restricted in their ability to compete.

In a way I agree with Swift.

The bailout did seem to grant Paulson godlike powers, I hope they introduce more oversight. Not making the bailout would be pretty epic fail though (not just for the US. Most of the world is tied in one way or the other to the US economy, so a big US recession would probably mean global recession.). It seems destined to go through today. We'll see.

Obviously the problem isn't the plan, it's the public. So we'll just have to keep having the same vote until we get what we want.
Called it! Ka-ching!

And he didn't even have to invoke his self-appointed emergency powers.
(b) "Catastrophic Emergency" means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions;
(5) The following NEFs are the foundation for all continuity programs and capabilities and represent the overarching responsibilities of the Federal Government to lead and sustain the Nation during a crisis, and therefore sustaining the following NEFs shall be the primary focus of the Federal Government leadership during and in the aftermath of an emergency that adversely affects the performance of Government Functions:

...

(g) Protecting and stabilizing the Nation's economy and ensuring public confidence in its financial systems;
In other words, Bush didn't even need the vote. He had already granted himself authorisation to spend your money during a market collapse without any congressional approval. He also granted himself unilateral leadership of all police, private businesses, councils and tribal groups.

But hey, he's a guy you can trust to tell the truth and not inflate a crisis or abuse his power - so whatever. You're all perfectly safe.

If it wasn't for those 'Vote meh for president' stuff you guys would've had 600 Billion Dollars in debt instead of 700 Billions :D. The American dreams seems to collapse, yo. Thanks to your federal bank, they keep making money without having anything to compensate it. Sooner or later, Dollars will go down in worth and the whole world will (too bad) feel it. American reputation is also going down, everyone sees the Americans like 'MCDonald freaks who declare everyone war.'

In modern times they only declared one war and are thinking about another tough, and the second one may make sense since its for fear of nuclear war. World opinion is sounding like my brother: so negativist they flaten time then analizing bad events and say certain bad things are happening all the time :)

Finally waking up? I have never understood it, really, what is so great about living somewhere rich kids can get good jobs, 'but its fair, because if you are uber-talented or uber-inspired, you can get a good job too.' (Well, you could take a loan, before.) It is a tool politicians and marketers use, it is deliberately vague. It seems clear to me, that America isn't nearly as much a meritocracy as one would wish.

But you know in this difficult times, you can have incredibble Fun with in IRL Trolling.

Just Copy&Pasta this in WordDoc, Prin it out. And glue to a Bankdoor next to you:
"
Dear Customers,
we the Bank reassure you that your Money is safe. We have not invested in High Risk Shares nor otherwise gambeled with your Money. So rest assured, that the current Transacting-limit of 500$ Dollar a Day is for your safety only, and will be lifted again once the worldwide financial Crisis has been solved. There is no reason to panic, althoug we are sorry to inform you in Addition, that this limit also inclueds Goldtrades and other Traditionall Safety Investments.

The CEO & Board
"
If the World is ending, it will be the /b/tards who finnish it. We all loose, 4chan Fatality :twisted: :twisted:

Rien ne va plus. Zero. And even the Bank doesen´t win, what a Day to celebrate.

PS: Buy a neoliberal Newspaper, there is nothing so lulzy as whiny Commentators whose Ideology crashes on there Head.

"The free Market will solve the Problems the free Market made."
