I'd say that either your GPU is overheating, or loose in the slot or your mainboard/graphics card is broken.
Hmm you could try to remove the graphics card and plug it back in and see if it helps.

I've experienced something like this before, had the same stripes in green. They appeared randomly and the result was a complete lockup so I had to hit the reset button. The mainboard was broken.

You should also see if the coolers of your CPU and GPU are full of dirt and dust and clean them if they are.

I've had that before. It was caused by my video card overheating

I had this error on ym second PC.

It only occured under windows XP.

Mandrake 10 linux and windows 98 did not show this error. Do you get trails of corruption following your mouse sometimes?

When we first got the error we took the PC to get repaired and was told it was a motherboard+cpu issue and it got replaced, then the issue returned after a week.

This is hardware based.

There's also a similair but not the same corruption when you feed a CRT monitor a signal it cant use, modern CRTs dont display it but old ones do and it shows all garbled, but I doubt that's your issue.

I had this on the blue channel with a computer once. The wires connecting the lcd to the motherboard (was a laptop) were frayed, and overheating.

Either way, as everyone else has said - hardware problem. Sorry :(
