If I were to vote for anything, Id vote for the removal of avitars. The forum is here to communicate (complain and argue), not to stare at someones random picture they pulled out of google images or drew in photoshop.

I always thought of avatars as a representation of the user posting. Im not posting my real face, since I have a feeling someone would eventually shoot me. Plus, I dont want to stare at eveyone elses ugly faces while trying to read the latest comment. My avitar is that of what seems to be a fairly pissed off older gentleman, taken from flamewarriors. Occasionaly (often) people get the impression that im one angry person, not true. Grumpy and willing to argue something to death is more accurate. Very few other members avitars represent them as a person, but rather some random mildly interesting picture.

100x100, 8kb. Thank you. More colors and slightly bigger is all I want, but I'm ok with what the currently have.

Avatars are a way of easily recognizing who wrote what because the human brain can recognize a picture within a split second but you need to take some time to read the username without avatars.

I can see the avatars and names out of the corner of my eyes at the same time, so I don't need avatars, but they are pretty cool..

I like reading stuff on this forum with small simple avatars and no distracting signatures.

Actually, would it be possible to ban flashing avatars somehow? Perhaps just animated ones. Sometimes I can't read the comments because the avatars are so distracting...

You can disable them in your browser (FF, opera).

I'm still with banning everyone on sight who even dares to put up a flashing avatar instead of asking people to remove it. And by flashing I mean the ones which sole purpose is to annoy people. 8)

exactly... just find your imageblocking software and add:

http://taspring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/*.gif

problem solved; you won't even know when someone has a flashing avatar...
