Conference talks about Spring and Open Source in Brussels
I'm going to present two talks in FOSDEM 2020 in Brussels.
The first one is about the process of preparing for Zero-K's release on Steam and how it affected the entire ecosystem.
The second one is about open source game projects in general and why some succeed in bringing contributors while others disappear.
If you're around Brussels between 31/01 and 02/02, feel free to come listen, say hi and/or meet up over beer.

food for thought (or for talk):
- "some succeed in bringing contributors while others disappear". What is "success"? How much does it really correlate with number of contributors? Projects may have few users and lots of contributors or with few contributors and lots of users, or few of both, and each kind may or may not disappear over time regardless.
- standards, shared tools, ecossystem convergence / divergence
- managing contributors, consistency of goals ("herding" contributors)
- managing the broad community ("herding" users)
- project ownership, money/resource issues
- timing, context issues
(I don't claim to know much about any of these, just that they're potentially interesting topics)

Really good talk, especially the one thing about dev burn out.
I guess if you work towards the real, the final goal of ultimate archievement, you can overdo it.
Thanks hoko for telling it like it is/was and allways will be.
