We're talking about avatars Forb, please pay attention.
SO is probably the only exception where they have the avatar in the bottom right, but that's probably because they have votes on the left side. In case of SO users don't matter as much as votes, so it makes sense to use such positioning.

Re: PhpBB 3.1
On a side note it seems bots are really liking the new forum :S
Re: PhpBB 3.1
Indeed. I would appreciate if a button to search.php?search_id=active_topics could be reinstated.gajop wrote:It's one more click.
"Active topics" also has the similar functionality and works without logging in.
Edit: Oh ok, it's hidden inside the Quick Links menu. Nvm.

You mean the sidebar that houses the avatar, location information, etc?gajop wrote:We're talking about avatars Forb, please pay attention.
Yeah, it's called a sidebar for a reason. You may be talking only of avatars, but there is a lot more on that sidebar than just pictures.

You may be talking only of a picture, but an Avatar is actually much more than just a picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AvatarForboding Angel wrote:You mean the sidebar that houses the avatar, location information, etc?gajop wrote:We're talking about avatars Forb, please pay attention.

If you pay attention, I'm talking about the entire sidebar.

You're right, but also generalizing.Forboding Angel wrote:You mean the sidebar that houses the avatar, location information, etc?

Sidebars can be on both left and right side (see facebook or twitter).
Avatars however are usually on the left.
Important identifiers (Avatar and/or Score/Rating) are almost always on the left or top, depending on the site.
I really don't care where the smileys are when I make posts, so you can keep *that* sidebar on the right as far as I'm concerned.

All this aside, you're acting as though it matters? It's not like you won't be used to it in a week. Switching things around like you are suggesting is no simple matter. I don't know if you have ever dealt with the phpbb theme system before, but I assure you, it is not a simple task, and no one is going to do it on a whim, and the old theme is incompatible, so I'm not sure what you plan to accomplish here.

Re: PhpBB 3.1
FWIW, I meant no one here on these boards, but it appears that extensions already exist, so that's a pretty moot point.
Wait until you butt heads with abma about installing extensions and have the maintenance conversation.

At the same time would like if a simple upvote/downvote post karma system existed (and a way to view user's total upvotes/downvotes).
I'd want both options, but definitely at least the upvote one.

Re: PhpBB 3.1
I don't think we are mature enough for a downvote idea
Re: PhpBB 3.1
+1 for karma.
I kind of like avatars on the right: Content over identity.
I guess i miss my ghetto sig, but that's also in the same vein.

Please refer to my aforementioned conversation with Abma and the asinine concerns expressed regarding extension maintenance.gajop wrote:At the same time would like if a simple upvote/downvote post karma system existed (and a way to view user's total upvotes/downvotes).

If you remember I campaigned for this a lot not long ago. The above sentence was the result.

- Patch it
- Create a pull request
- Mumble "I swear to always maintain this code (or find someone else to do it for me), let Abma be my witness".
- Test it on test.springrts.com
- Let everybody debate whether it "looks nice"
- Put it live anyhow

Signature is missing on posts
Hi,
I did a search on forum with the word «signature» + check about user control panel (display board option + own signature already set), it is no more displayed...
And I don't see anyone's else.
Any ideas ?
[EDIT] : It is displayed (only) on user's viewprofil page.

Don't know, did we have signatures before? Can't remember them being there.
I didn’t remove them knowingly but I'm also not in favour of enabling them, it distracts a lot from the actual text.

Signatures have been disabled on this forum since 2004, iirc.

Ok...Forboding Angel wrote:Signatures have been disabled on this forum since 2004, iirc.
You can limit max characters on signature and also the pic displayed and contents ; checkout phpBB MOD to apply it should exists.
