All the AA 2.11 units that are gone now. Some were goofy, some were awesome, all are missed.

SMUG in general. I too am convinced that Isaac is on some kind of crazy bender in Canberra right now. We miss you man. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of other old clans too. I'm definitely missing Boirunner too.

Regular map releases from IceXuick and Forboding Angel.

The sheer amount that I released on a regular basis back then is O_o. I t was up to like 3 per week at one point. Course I had what I was doing down to a pretty hardcore science. It would be hard to pull off that sort of thing using ssmf. A lot more work goes into making a quality map nowadays (mainly because we can actually do stuff with maps now).

They were still pretty badass. I'm thinking of making a Parched Mesa table.

the sad thing is that 4 years later this question:
I want a mod containing only 1 side with this one unit as the only unit.
So basically the minimum amount of code/files/scripting to make this work.
is still impossible to answer with a simple link to FAQ.

That is kinda sad... even sadder that depite the fact that I acctually did it at one point in my life I couldn't write said "answer" myself due to the fact that most of my "modding" knowledge has become obsolete.

Can easily be fit into a single post now. (all it takes is a valid modinfo.lua, probably all that needs is modtype = "1", and depend = {"Spring Cursors"}, I guess a name wouldn't hurt either.)

thats not the minimum to make a game, thats the minimum to make something that shows up as an entry in the spring.exe menu.

To be totally correct, it's the minimum required to have a game that will run, even if there is nothing in it, it will load and display the map.

8v8 on small divide
1v1 with at least 8 players sharing a com :D

4v4s or 5v5s on greenhaven
greenfield games
azure ramp ffas
and when nanos had insane ranges and you built them like creep to suck away enemies
