1) CPU is critical. You need a fast, preferably dual or quad core CPU to get good performance especially as games get bigger/longer. Anything that says "core 2 duo" on the box will be perfectly good. If you don't have something similar or equivalent, it's more than likely that any speed problems you have will be due to the CPU being too slow rather than the GPU. Any Phenom II or even Phenom I should probably be fine.

If spring doesnt scale well on multicores then you should look for high ghz.

Could someone move the MT exe links to the main Download page? It will never work with "all mods and widgets" anyway and this question keeps popping up over and over again. Every mod and widget can be fixed so that it works with MT and this is sufficient imo.

Well, technically Spring can probably render at >9000x>9000 screen resolution. Probably Nvidia will support this in their next driver release and this will be another ATI shortcoming.

I really like the MT exe, just had a bigger game and Im pretty sure the performance doesnt go down as much when there are many units on a battlefield.

I have the following outfit and run Spring just fine, highest settings - etc, etc... Ultimately however you don't really need top-end gaming hardware to run it easily on its highest settings, most less-than-average office PC's could run it.


OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
CPU: AMD Phenom (I) 9600 4x 2.3GHz
RAM: 4.5GB
GPU: ZOTAC Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 AMP! Edition (Factory Overclock)
HDD: 2TB
Mouse, Keyboard, Headphones: Saitek Cyborg gaming gear.
Additional Drives: DVD/CD RW, Blu-Ray


In the end, no one can give you the specific minimum setup that will run it flawlessly.

Blue ray is most fail product ever. For the price of the drive, you can buy like 5TB hdd which is enough to store about 200 1080p movies, readily available on all major torrent sites.
