Is it an Acer? They have some cheap 17'' lappies with 9600 cards. Contemplating buying one myself.

Re: Play Spring on low-end (/netbook)
This thread is asking about low end laptops and netbooks. Otherside's laptop is double the cost of my netbook so it doesn't apply to this thread. Of course it runs spring.
Re: Play Spring on low-end (/netbook)
netbooks are like 150 bucks now.
150 US dollars.
400 Pounds is like 600 or 700 dollars now.
so you are comparing a laptop that costs 3x as much as a netbook ^_^

lol bull, i also have laptop with 9600gt 512mb with ddr3 and faster cpu. it dosent get close to running spring on full. once shadows, and dynamic water goes on it strugles hard. Let alone with details on full.Otherside wrote:my laptop cost me 400 Pounds (around 460 euros)

learn2notusedynamicwater/dynamicclouds
:]
i consider full or near full settings to be high unit detail and terrain level with good Lod and shadows + decals and i can run that np + bump water.
dynamic water is gimicky and uglier looking than bump water apart from the nice moving ripples the fps drain isnt worth it. And lol dynamic clouds

Re: Play Spring on low-end (/netbook)
It's not full settings if it's not full settings.
Re: Play Spring on low-end (/netbook)
thats BS rilly because some settings you cant define as max.Das Bruce wrote:It's not full settings if it's not full settings.
Dynamic water or Full Bump which is the better/higher setting ??.
and who the hell plays with dynamic clouds rilly >_> even on my desktop which i run at max settings (bump not dynamic) i dont see the need to run dynamic clouds as its a stupid fps hog with no benefits
Re: Play Spring on low-end (/netbook)
stop denieing it, you diliberatly miss led everyone for the sake of you're epeen. admit it. there is no hiding.
Re: Play Spring on low-end (/netbook)
full settings, near full settings, and good settings are not the same.
Re: Play Spring on low-end (/netbook)
thanks brodul.
i already put that tip on the FAQ a few weeks ago. .. which made me think about the earlier asked question for a light version of spring. There would be multiple ways of doing this. One could be, having instructions on the wiki how to adjst the settings and what to look for, plus possibly instructions directly targeted at certain graphic cards/systems. An other thing would be a netbook targeted config template, or a netbook preset in springsettings.. plus instructions on the Wiki.
Most realistic thing would be something relying only on the Wiki, as then users can keep it up to date; spring devs would not do that.
So yeah.. it would be nice if one or a few of you could make a netbook settup guide on the wiki, and then link to it in the FAQ maybe.
The most basic thing coudl simply be copying a config file that works nice for you to a fresh page, and linking to the FAQ entry for the compressed textrues tip.

I am not going to speak for other projects but do not try and run gundam rts on a low end machine.
