Re: The new welcome images
I didn't see any action on fnord's part, and satirik made fun of me, so I decided to try it.
We already had xwings in the banner image
If anyone else has good banner images they want to be considered, post them in the screenshot submission forum. I'm going to be pretty strict on quality control, so no large obnoxious URLs or anything like that. Ultimately though, there's not going to be any arbitrary format, if it looks good I'll use it, if it doesn't then I won't.
I'll try to keep image numbers even between mods for equal exposure, although honestly, I don't think the # of times your image comes up in the frontpage vs someone else's is going to be the primary factor in popularity of mods. If you're out there, and the game is good, someone who's willing to try third party content will ultimately have their curiosity peaked by another fan sooner or later.

Re: The new welcome images
One could be forgiven for thinking that the Spring Engine was built to recreate starwars. Honestly, I always get either the PURE fighter header or the gray one with the rebel fighters.
Load up the script and refresh repeatedly and youll see what I mean.
Also there are that many front page middle banners for starwars.... Other content developers really need to start producing more of these.
We should also think fo some mechanism of rotating the pool from which ti randomly selects. So rather than selecting from every single image, it selects from a group which is changed every few days.

I personally think it would be nice if they actually rotated through a number of them like the banners here: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/
