I'd rather see an original fantasy based mod.

F5 hides the UI for better screenshots, btw.

Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
Agree with Zpock; Kingdoms was a sad attempt to create a fantasy universe IMO. Although in general I'm tired of everyone and their mother trying to come up with epic fantasy storylines and worlds and histories.
I'd love to do a fantasy-based mod for Spring but get the feeling something like Total War engine would be 100x more suited to it.

Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
I have been secretly collaborating on a fantasy based mod for the past 2 years with certain great minds around here, such as Sleksa. The mod is almost ready for release. It is called Wardaft: Rise of the Pandaren Krogs.
It has 4 factions:
The People's Alliance
The Borc Horde
The Sleepytime Elves
Zombies Inc.
It is guaranteed to be fully balanced because we borrowed all the stats from a popular existing game. It will have hero units with double dguns and lots of explosions, grenades, flying LRPCs and more.

Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
I agree 100% with spiked's sentiments.
To be honest, I'm still sore that they decided to make BFME instead of just using the TW engine, which is just infinitely more suited to a LOTR, and fantasy in general.

Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
Yeah, LOTOR in a TW engine would be epic...

Why do you need a separate Spring version?

The OP is badly worded, iirc axlrose was porting TA:K to Spring. not re-writing Spring for TA:K in particularKDR_11k wrote:Why do you need a separate Spring version?
KDR would know best about this, but with the targetting changes (targetborder etc) melee combat is much more workable now?

Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
I like TA:K alot, played it and the expansion almost as much as I played OTA.
Loved the expanded levelling system which gave nice visual cues (higher level units had gold armor textures), wildly different factions, and a whole lot of other cool stuff.
Sounds like a project to bring it to Spring needs more coding expertise though, not my forte. Hope someone does pick it up though, it'd be a shame for this to go down.

Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
Personally I think totalwar has gone more and more in the direction of massive graphics demo with really bad gameplay. For example I hate the way units move around and interact, the ai sucks, minimal (tactical only) multiplayer, and the stratmap is bloated.
Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
Yes... the engine developers should halt everything to convert a game's contents to Spring for you.
If you want it done, do it yourself. The "TAK" part is irrelevant.
Besides, to make the TAK units not look like utter crap for the most part (fixing alpha, missing back sides, animations) you could just as easily create your own fantasy mod without worrying about any legal issues.

Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
I think you are a bit confused. Spring is an engine. There are many games for it, like BA, KP, EE, etc. There's nothing stopping you from making TAK game/mod for the Spring engine (which is what axlrose was doing).LoC_Sage wrote:make a section for ta:kingdoms to look just like ta spring.
Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
What? Why? How? What exactly do you want? How does one make TAK look like Spring? What would a TAK Spring entail? Why can't this be done with the current Spring? What exactly are you even asking for?LoC_Sage wrote:Please don't go offtopic. All I'm asking if the creators of ta spring can
make a section for ta:kingdoms to look just like ta spring.
This will be for the ta:kingdoms community, so save your bad comments about tak. If you decide to join the tak community after
tak spring is decided to be done, then we will welcome you.
Re: Ta:Kingdoms Spring
He's asking for someone to port TAK over

Zpock, I also agree with that. My favourite of the series was Shogun Total War, and I believe that while the quality in graphics has gone up, the quality of gameplay has plummeted. They seem to think that more fluff=better gameplay, and rather then innovate, have been diluting their original game design with every iteration so far.
