Attatchments, and moderators

Moderators can upload attachments.
Users cannot

Moderators can see attachments

Can we please either stop using attachments outside the moderator forums?

I have seen attatchments too since the forum was upgraded but this hasnt always been the case since, for example, look at the spring site 2 thread and arghs frontpage competition thread.

there was one that showed up as you do not have sufficient access to view this attachment or something like that, course it could have been a ruse.

Either fnord or tobi played with forum attatchements a fair bit a while back. I can take a look and figure out if I can do something later.

I can't find it in the ACP.

IOW, everyone has permission to download files and everyone (well, registered users) has permission to upload attachments and there doesn't seem to be a setting that distinguishes attachments based on the role of the user who uploaded them.

But maybe it's just because the PHPBB3 ACP sucks big time that I can't find it.

You can customize it by forum section as well. So it could be something custom to general discussions or some group that section is in too. I didn't play with it so I'm not sure what's happened.

[edit] As far as I can tell from a quick browse over of the permissions sections, registered users (read anyone posting or reading with a user name logged in) should be able to create and view attachments now.

It does appear fixed. The previously broken image now shows up.

Speaking of, why can't I post polls? Poll privileges are broken, fix them, quickly!

um, ya, attatchements won't work for non logged in people. They are lower class and there's a plethora of accesses they don't have. I could change that, but it's alot of work just for a single feature that I don't really care if skimmers can access anyways.

Plus it would mean hotlinking would work, which would be silly.
