Springfiles, located at http://spring.jobjol.nl needs your support.
Springfiles is hosting almost 10 gig of maps, mods etc.
i'm working as much as i can in the past 50 days, to improve the site and added more and more features.
I still got a lot of new ideas like an advanced map search and other improvements.
But i got a few problems, the site is becomming more and more popular, and new files are added everyday. This brings a new problem, more space and bandwidth are needed.
You know webspace and bandwidth aren't for free, so i added some advertisements. After a few days i discovered that it didnt worked out, no one had clicked on the ads, no money was made.
So i removed all the ads.
Now i have made a donations page in multiple languages. there is a paypal button there. you can even see the calculation of expenses made. currently the costs for hosting are 6 euro/month, but since the bandwidth and space isnt enough for the future, it will get to 12euro/month.
I am wondering how you think of this idea, the site itself and ofcourse, if you are able to make a small donation. 3 people donating 4 euro/month each is enough to keep this site up.
In the meantime i keep working on SpringFiles to make it better.

Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Is that why diskusage is pegged at 97%?
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
there is 300 mb free of 10gig, so extra space is needed urgently.Pxtl wrote:Is that why diskusage is pegged at 97%?
same thing for the bandwidth.
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Where is it hosted? How much bandwidth are you using monthly?
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
imagine if we all had some account where we could give money in cents, and when we all give just one cent, then it would be enough to pay that, but for me it would be like nothing. damn nice idea... but wont work i guess.
though 12├óÔÇÜ┬¼/month isnt so much if you have a job.

First of all, thank you so much for the site. It's awesome.
Second thing, plz make a contact link! I have a few suggestions to make but I couldn't find any contact information. I'll PM them now that I know who's the genius behind the site.
Donated some, thanks a ton for the link. Donations > ads.

Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Do you have a good easy way to add mirrors already?
Since two weeks ago or so we got a mail of someone offering mirror space on the team e-mail address but since there wasn't really a primary filehost with easy to add mirrors, I couldn't really give him clear instructions.
IOW, make it very easy to add/remove mirrors and give instructions for it on a page just below main page, so it's easy for anyone who wants to donate a big fat mirror to do so.

maybe someone is running ASP or PHP, he needs a script to download the stuff when someone has uploaded on springfiles.
but it is easy to setup.
i will add an contact page for ppl who want to run a mirror.
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Why bother when we have other hosts that have terabytes of hosting space being wasted every week never mind every month, nm lichos p2p system.
We currently have ~6 file hosts and a p2p torrent system.

Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Afaik the p2p system is only avialable those on tasclient.
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Is it? As far as I understand it it doesn't integrate with tasclient at all and would work for any program that used the lobby server provided you told it what your user name was.
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Dunno, I just know that SpringLobby doesn't support it yet and they're working on it. I'm on Ubuntu, so I don't use tasclient.
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
No, the CA downloader tool doesn't require lobby integration to work as far as I can tell but you couldn't implement a download button in the lobby using it, so it would have to run as a separate tool.
What you must be referring to is 'native integration'.

Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Oh. The CA downloader doesn't work on Ubuntu, that's why :/
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
leave the adds and ask us to click with each download.
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
How many agree, and will follow the above idea?
Keep in mind the site needs ~$180 now to cover the new plan jj bought.

Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
Most advertisers get angry at that approach.smoth wrote:leave the adds and ask us to click with each download.
Either way, the only ads that've ever caught my eye have been ProjectWonderful ones.
Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
donations are usually one time deals for most people and even Nexus explained how it would not support FU.Vadi wrote:How many agree, and will follow the above idea?

Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help
but imagine if we all gave one cent... (or two or three or four, etc.)
like when you download this game, you need to pay one cent per month, wouldnt be so much, im sure people would just give that cent away.
