Re: First time user issues
Internet Explorer renames .sdz files and opens .sd7 files as raw text = both is fail. It makes no difference whether new files are sdz or sd7 because there already exist hundreds of game & map archives in both formats. The system that automatically generates archives from SVN/github produces sdz...

Re: Those of you who don't use Lobbies, How do you Launch Spring?
But for some reason this crashed the Spring Lobby right before launching the game. For a while I had similiar problem Luckily before springlobby would crash/hang it had already written the startscript file. So I could use that to join the game. (Drag & drop the script.txt onto spring.exe or mak...

Re: quality of posts (split)
Also funny facts, those complaining abut the dieing community (by now zombie marching toward zombie-calypso world domination-community i guess) are actually those jumping on every newbs throats. As I see everything has turned out as they wanted, unsure why they complain now. They complained about p...

I also would like to learn more about the Kardashians.

Re: Spads running on AWS
To my credit, I've asked repeatedly for help, but most people are understandably busy with their own stuff. People have always helped to update mods and even made completly new things, often within hours/days after the request. That is how evolutionrts even made it to 96.0. Now people are "bus...

Re: Automatic archiving of replays
What I've done is associated .sdf with spring.exe -- that way I can just double-click to open the replays. The problem is multiple spring engine versions. The sdf needs to be opend with correct version. I used to have links to several spring-versions in startmenu and then I could drag&drop down...

Re: Automatic archiving of replays
demo files are now compressed with gzip The data inside replays is compressed with that algo, spring still plays them like before. No need to unzip files or anything. In .sdf files is some readable text if opend with texteditor which is sometimes useful. For example zK players can use it to find th...

Re: Camera issue - Tech Annihilation
Now I looked around and it seems already fixed.
https://github.com/n3wm1nd/TA/commit/1a ... 60b7df25a4
So in techa versions following v2.38.8 it should not happen anymore..
until then (or forever) disable the "remember camera" widget

Re: Train Factory
Some of the guns in S1944 do work via the transport-methode. Whether the gif shows a single unit that deploys via "morph" gadget or or two "loaded" units does not really matter: The effect looks excactly the same and so shows the problem just as well. I am not sure sure if moving...

Re: Train Factory
Imo use the MoveCtrl functions to set positions of the waggons, like you would in a snake game. https://www.google.de/?gws_rd=ssl#q=game+programing+tutorial+snake Spring's attach/transport functions do not seem useful for trains. Assuming you have the locomotive and each waggon as a seperate unit an...

https://springrts.com/phpbb/download/file.php?mode=view&id=9797 I used MF to try some rendering stuff. Original idea was to make a sphere that reflects lots of stuff, but instead of boring sphere I wanted to use something more interessting and remebered the sphere walker. Sadly somehow the mode...

Re: Teach me how to learn the Lua interface

Re: Gadget to override box spawning?
the trick to override spring's startposition systems is to not use the functions at https://springrts.com/wiki/Lua_SyncedRead#StartBoxes.2FStartPositions short example: https://code.google.com/p/springtanks/source/browse/trunk/LuaRules/Gadgets/tp_startbase_spawn.lua#80 https://code.google.com/p/spri...

Re: Gadget to override box spawning?
To access the value associated with the key in a table you can use the table[key] syntax. http://lua-users.org/wiki/TablesTutorial https://springrts.com/wiki/Mapdev:mapinfo.lua#teams The values are already in the correct coordinates system, no need to translate them. Nullifying the selecting your st...
