Baking casted shadows is stupid. It makes map look very static as units and features are not shaded with it. Engine shadows are always preferable.
Shading is different thing.

Re: What new map do you want?
@1: I'm not sure if it's a worth of doing @2: Maybe, but on the other hand, theres millions of similiar maps with similiar concept, so nothing new there @3: Now this might work, especially when you can make map edges seamless with proper water settings. @4: Definitely worth doing. Would be really ni...

Re: Metal Amount vs Player Count
TL;DR Also too much hazzle over freaking metal layout. Since It's pretty simple. Here is my formula: 12-20 metal patches /*per each opposing players. So that would mean something like 7-10 mexes per player where couple mexes in middle are the "contested" ones and positioned according that....

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
Well I must admit that Gigamex hit the nail on the head when I said that Big Angry Robots sounds a bit cartoonish (and I would add a bit schildish too) Well, as I said before, name may be too humoristic considering the artistic style and the concept, so the name could not make justice for the game ...

Before you release, could you reduce the amount of those magic flowers. It feels a bit overkill atm, performance could also improve?

Re: BAR story
Considering how many units BA already has, I really see no point making more, unless they really fill some essential niches.

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
BAR really is a good name in a sense that it's a good compromise between interests of all target groups (assuming that it doesn't mean Balanced Annihilation Reloaded anymore but something else): It's a hint for those old BA fan boys that 'hey here's a new ba' and a bait for those old BA haters that ...

Re: BAR story
Floris, it's not a road of roses. If you want something done, you start doing it. It's simple as that. Your worldview just dont fit in the open-source communities. If you have money, sure you can have fancy project teams, project plans, work processess etc. but organizing in these kind of communitie...

Fuck you. You are backseat/armchair everything . Not to take any stance to the actual arguments, but ...

Re: Green River Confluence
Yeah, the heightmap definitely needs some love. I did some playtesting and found the edges of the plateau extremely annoying when trying to raid mexes from above. 16-bit is the way to do it. I'll look into which way to make a 16-bit heightmap (photoshop, xnormal, l3dt). I only use l3dt for texturin...

Re: Green River Confluence
I thought you had L3dt? You can do 16-bit heightmaps with that. It also has pretty good errosion tools.
