Re: Think before you reply
Women aren't utterly incomprehensible beings who think in a completely different way, a lot of the things that confuse men are things men themselves experience, or are perfectly rational given their circumstances. Sure I can be pretty sure I don't know what having a period or child birth is like, b...

Re: Weak points in persuasion attempts
Once upon a time we enforced argumentative discussion rules, but stopped because we'd have to ban everyone. Including the admin/moderator staff.
People just don't have the type of training necessary to argue intelligently. Society trains us more in bad practices than good ones.

Re: what do i need to kow?
I've got significant java programming knowledge, an a general comp sci background... but that being said, from my experience there are few programming environments easier to learn than lua, so I don't think it should be a significant obstacle to anyone.

Re: what do i need to kow?
Is it impossible to use BOS and COB and what not these days? I know no one really still actively practices it, but I thought it still technically worked. Regardless, I was responding to Sinbad saying "You can make a game with no programming knowledge... but it will be bland. Lua is the language...

Re: what do i need to kow?
You can make a game with no programming knowledge... but it will be bland. Lua is the language you use to make your game not be awful. Improving the engine is another story and it probably is a matter of "if you have to ask, don't bother"... that said, if you just want to make games you w...

Re: Legends of Pegasus
Game has been released in Europe. I am reading that It's apparently extremely buggy and I cant help but wonder as to why all these 4x games are being released in such horrible, unfinished states. sword of the stars 2 was so promising but was unplayable at release and is still buggy and unfinished, ...

Re: Endless space
So far, I've never liked a real time grand strategy game. For RTS game play my taste is somewhere in between brood war and Balanced Annihilation. I like a smallish contained battle between a small number of sides that doesn't sprawl on for hours, and has more tactical than strategic decisions. I don...

Re: Non-Spring Random WIP
killyourself.png I never claimed to be "good" at programming... at best I've claimed "clever"? Reliably copying objects to new instances is hard in JavaScript while parsing the stingified object results in a perfect copy without modifying the original... what SHOULD I be doing? ...

Watched this today on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2H1wK1dFXg Ya, he makes it look interesting, but he really doesn't compare it at all to what else is out there. So far I'm hearing "it's generally weaker" though. I'll probably get it still, but I think I'll wait till it's on ...

I kind of feel it's appropriate these days to host every video that legally can be through youtube unless you're a company that can afford to compete with google. Let someone else do the work of worrying about downtime, worrying about weather your video works on X stupid device, worrying about comp...

Re: Endless space
The thing for me, I'm not a big fan of full RTS 4X. I don't necessarily want to micromanage every turn, but I like the option to if I want. It bothers me in games when I feel like I'm racing my opponent in order to get enough actions in in time to beat them. I really like the casual pace of a real g...

I hadn't found it before there. I'm actually a bit impressed, we're not doing half bad when you look at who we're compared to.

I've modified the stuff. The current setup should aid the more OCD of you a little more.
I've pretty much just juggled everything so that the most popular items are higher on the list and the least popular ones are lower.

Re: Adaptive VSync
This recent setting in nvidia drivers is super useful. It caps frame rate at refresh frequency, but doesnt start halving if you drop under refresh frequency. Reduces gpu power usage, eliminates tearing and doesnt cause drop to 30 fps if you go a smidge under 60. Works well with spring :D That solut...

lol swift so angry, solving there problem on the fly. So they need disguised hideouts.. treehouses, basecamps, with treasurechests- and traps. Lets mantis that on DayZ. Also .. if you murder to many.. you could develop halocinations of other players- resulting in firefights with thin air. Haha, It ...

It's a very good game. Moments of frustration, but I definitely loved it overall. I'd say Machinarium was a tiny bit stronger though.
