Re: website front page
Just want to note that that was what I was getting at. By content, I meant just content in general, not necessarily game content. Just too much wasted space that could be filled with stuff developers actually want to see.

Re: Forum as material design
Forum posts are forum posts, it's not the nav bars job to show off spring, a nav bar is a nav bar not an advert banner. If you want the forums to show off what spring can do, link people to threads like Smoths Junk or the dev forum, but unit renders in the header are an unnecessary distraction. Loo...

Re: Killing off the Development page
I'm all for restructure of the current navigation links and pages in the name of simplicity. I also think "Report a bug" should be moved.
What do you guys think about dropdowns? We could keep the important pages easily accessible without flooding the primary navigation.

website front page
Split from https://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33579&p=570541#p570541 (Silentwings.) It seems a shame to me to have nothing at all on the page that shows the engines graphics/gameplay capability. Being a bit easier on the eyes is nice but subtlety showing off what Spring can do ...

Re: some future BAR ideas
The lobby development docs are here: https://springrts.com/wiki/Lobby_Development I saw this, but the only thing that's documented is the protocol. I was looking more for a very simple guide of how to get started on developing a lobby, as I don't even know where to begin or what to do with this pro...

Re: some future BAR ideas
Probably a controversial opinion, but I feel BAR should have its own lobby. An extremely simple and robust one, built from the ground up. I tried my hand at this a while back, but had no idea where to even begin as I couldn't find much documentation on building a lobby.

Re: gathering feedback about people who leave spring ecossystem
I know a few old indie games, similar to SpringRTS' games that have all seen a dramatic loss of players over the past 5 years or so. I think this is largely due to the huge increase of indie games being pumped out across the globe on a daily basis. Not only does it take a lot for an indie game to at...

But Forb, what about the navigation bar?! With no links, our users won't be able to get anywhere!

I'm just interested in BAR, I'd like to see it do well, what with all the work that various people have put into it.

Re: bad ui
that would take away from competitive element that it has I don't think so, it will only shift the competitive element further to macro, and unit compositions as opposed to micro and APM. Whether that's desirable or not, is a matter of taste. Yes, actually, this is more accurate. I suppose with suc...

Re: BAR subforum?
This topic is about the BAR subforum no? Anyway, BAR could really use a subforum at this point imo. Just call it w/e and it can be renamed at a later date when a name is decided upon.

Re: bad ui
Heh, I kind of have the opposite idea in regards to micromanagement than you Jaz! I'd imagine that majority of BA players happily welcome reduction of microing when done in a non-obstructing way. Majority of the micro-reduction widgets are exactly that; Completely invisible. Exactly, and I complete...

Re: SpringLobby 0.219 released!
Doesn't seem to download games as is. There's a bunch of different URLs displayed in "Downloads" tab and supposedly the game downloads in an instant, but actually doesn't. Think it's trying to download some web pages instead of the actual game. I confirm that Last Ba 8.17 17 files tries t...

Re: bad ui
Honestly Jaz, that's just a longer version of "bad ui, replace with red ui". Equally useless to the developer. You should be able to point out the exact things you think are wrong. "Insane amount of Lua stuff" -> Games are written in Lua, they're expected to be Lua heavy. We're ...

Re: bad ui
In all honesty, most Spring things have not-so-great UIs. I don't want to come across as overly critical here, but I think it's safe to say the majority of content creators' backgrounds in this community is more on the development/code side than the UI and design side. In fairness to OP, I do think ...
