Well - we can at least agree that having active admins is a good thing.
But now that I'm an admin on TERA, ofc it appear to work for me because when I'm around there is an admin around... so I am taking what you say seriously.

The rank limit which is on some autohosts is put there to combat smurfing, not to deny newbies entry. Although some players may be unfriendly to newbies, (in BA, at least) autohost owners are not. My best idea to solve this is have autohosts only allow people onto them after they have maybe 1-3 hours ingame time (or something like that) AND have a singleplayer mode where people who've just created a new account can make up a few hours in tutorials/missions before trying online play. It's unfair to blame TERA - TERA has a two bar rank limit, whereas ACE and most of SPADS have 4 bar rank limits.
We are now able to make rank limits into autospec limits, imo we should do that.

limit of one account per IP/day would help to limit some smurfing This is completely unworkable - it would make testing mods/lobbies/lua very difficult for devs. And there are also legit reasons for using multiple accounts eg. some players are in >1 clans and many people have brothers/sisters/kids ...

I've checked through quite a lot of the trueskill data for big games whilst making chranks and I've never seen it behave badly on those (but I also looked through the games klap mentions and he is right that it is behaving wrongly in those - so maybe this issue is restricted to 1v1s).

We should not rank people on anything other than win/loss because we shouldn't be telling people what is/isn't important about how they play the game. Yes this make convergence slightly slower, but (i) trueskill converges pretty fast anyway (ii) we can still have chranks (iii) we've survived for yea...

That's already taken care of - the replay site gives different ratings for differen mods, and even with each mod different ratings for each kind of game (ffa, team ffa, big team, 1v1, ....)
