Re: Homemade Cafe Mocha
My sister has a trick for frothing if you don't have an immersion blender. Make your thing in a mason jar, heat it up in the microwave, then put the lid on and shake it until the froth forms. I sometimes eat the freeze dryied powdered coffee if i get tired. Does that make me a var barian? I did some...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
I see "game ender weapons" as more of a "you've basically already won, here's a gratifying way to rub it in your opponent's face"... it's like a tech victory in Civ games.

Mint has a "system tray" that doubles as a notification area... I think it just uses a different api/protocol than past GUIs because it only seems to work for a very narrow set of programs (Spotify goes there when you close it without choosing "exit" for example)

Doesn't even need to be invented. I'd even accept them adopting something game-changing like when Apple decided to scrap all their old-broken everything and move towards a BSD/Unix like OS (but not that specifically, I can use Linux if I want a Unix-like OS)SpliFF wrote:invent something truly game-changing

Human Resources looks like it should be one of those low budget indie tablet games... you know, one gimmick that get's played to death by having as many missions as you can with the same mechanics and assets... except they are putting it in a needlessly complicated destructible environment and throw...

Re: Commandos/Swat 2-like games: Possible in Spring?
It's not that hard to build interiors. Before thinking about Spring, I was going to consider using GMStudio, which would make the task a bit harder. The hardest thing in Spring is its LUA scripting, but its 3D mapping system is a bit attractive, which would make more beautiful maps. It's not the &q...

Can free things be released as "Early Access" or "Beta" on Steam? I feel like a lot of the ill will that Evo got there was tied to people seeing it as "unfinished" because the lobby/install stuff had so many problems out of the gate.

Re: Updated Mapping System
x and y are the original coordinates of a screen so z became the "depth" so I think that the concept up y being "up" in game-graphics is a symptom of almost all the original 3D games being First Person... I would hazard that the first game to look "down" on 3D things mi...

Re: Updated Mapping System
would allow units to climb buildings or jump from rooftop to rooftop or for helicopters to land on roofs This is pie in the sky tbh. Having buildings/units be part of the terrain is not realistic - the ground can only have one y co-ord per (x,z). I was thinking more along the lines of the upper y o...

This might give a hint to the problem. I used SpringMapEdit to decompile the diffuse texture: http://springrts.com/phpbb/download/file.php?mode=view&id=8948&sid=7a71ee2c0a8fbdba187b91fc8c0e1235 So it seems that the the strange cutt-offs are in the compiled texture in the smt file. Maybe I t...

Re: Updated Mapping System
buildings are more or less units, otherwise you may as well say subs, ships and aircraft are also different types. If the base unit is a giant robot then sure, buildings are units, but if the base unit is an infantryman then buildings being terrain would allow units to climb buildings or jump from ...

Re: Updated Mapping System
Also smoth might've mentioned it (don't know the lingo), but would be nice to have some texture solution for high sloped terrain. I'd rather use 3d modeled tiles that I could plonk down as part of a map. That way they can be shared with the community as doing good ones would be quite an effort. Lik...

Re: I need thies unit bases.
I notice you have NO games at all... maybe there's a permissions issue or you have a setting somewhere pointing at the wrong directory... try installing a "known good" game and ensure it shows up before trying to make your own.
