Re: Info about databases
If you're a bit clueless you might want to look at e.g. http://www.forumotion.com/. I've got a forum there too and it's pretty nice. You get all the technical stuff off your tail while still maintaining enough possibilities to change the forum the way you want it...

Would it be possible to have a dynamic scaling for pieces (i.e. for animation in the unit script)? It would make up a nifty extension to the move and rotate commands...

I'd also like to see some progress on this problem. Also see this topic for a similar discussion:

Re: Wikileaks
We were told to get some info that would "change history". I don't see anything like that from what I've read so far... I guess we're just going to see some favoritism, embarassing and honest evaluations of certain persons and in general some not really correct deals or other agreements th...

Re: Inventions for Mankind
That could be good, but I don't think that industries that stand to loose money because of it would like it. Since when are things good for makind tied to things good for the industry? also.. as said, free energy would have to come with a restriction of its use, to not overheat the planet...

Re: Arcania: Gothic 4
Arcania took a step away from the original Gothic gameplay - it now is more of a Knights of the Temple II type of game. With that said it now focuses more on action and combat together with a rather simple skill system... The reviews (at least for the PC version - the X360 one might have some techni...

Re: Graphic tablets
Go for Wacom - they're simply the best no matter if you're in the Bamboo or Intuos price range. If you're really on a budget there also was this chinese brand which cloned Wacom's battery-less pencil once their patents ran out but I don't remember their name - the product was a little cheaper than t...

Re: fifa 11
Well FIFA is good on the consoles but for the PC there's no way around PES. At least they didn't repeat their FIFA 10 debacle which had a horrible PC version. Still the recent FIFA 11 doesn't have everything the consoles offer which I find hardly understandable...

Re: The Thing VS Alien
I didn't see it for myself but read quite some feedback on it. It's mediocre at best. Too little focus on the Predators / their hunt, some rather stupid scenes (Katana vs. Predator = bad idea) and boring characters. The trailer also has some fake scenes like that one where numerous Predator laserpoi...

Re: "Dealing with computer noobs"-thread
I opened the task manager (5min) and saw that this vista os is running on a pc with 1gig of ram. 999mb of which were already used without doing anything. Be aware though what value you look up in Vista / 7 as the myth of extreme RAM usage was formed by the RAM occupied for caching which get...

Re: A new free animation film : Sintel
So what new info do you tell me here? Except for the long time they spend together (which I don't think really was THAT long because there's no sign of any growth while you of course can hardly determine if there was some tiny bit or not) you just summed up what I said... For me the baby gets fetche...

Re: A new free animation film : Sintel
I don't like it - the previous one with the fat bunny was way better in any aspect... I know Sintel also was meant to push some new features but to say the truth I don't see any advanced feature being explored in the movie. The visuals are actually not that good - I mean snowy mountains are snowy mo...

Re: The Thing VS Alien
Well why just the new "The Thing" and not the original (I think James Rolfe covers the differences HERE or in a follow-up part)? Considering the alien movies - I prefer the 2nd one. The reason is that the first one isn't scary anymore while the 2nd movie still has the great action, hostile...

Re: Can PhysX support be added in a future release?
I also think such a proprietary solution isn't a good idea - especially as the long term future of PhysX is questionable as physic engines now can use OpenCL and things like that to run on any GPU... If anyone considers a physics engine for Spring they should give something like the Bullet physics l...

Re: Christmas comes early: Unity 3.0
The gfx arnt that great imho, source can that too and it looks better overall. Or UE3 but I know those arent as cheap. GFX are what you put in the game. That a small feature show cannot compete with a AAA project like a Half-Life game should be obvious... You've also mentioned the price argument wh...
